Hey everyone, last year I had a huge Halloween party in my apartment and it was extremely successful. This year, however, I've moved back home after graduating from college and I was considering not having a party at all, but the Halloween excitement is already kicking in since I usually start building props in July.
My options right now are to either have the party at home with my big house and huge yard, or have it at a friend's house where I went to college. If I had it at home, my guest list would be extremely limited because I don't have as many close friends there, but if I have it near my college it's a much smaller apartment. The choices!
Anyway, my major concern is THEMES! Last year I had multiple themes since I thought it'd be the last party I'd be having. The following themes I've already used:
* Butcher's Shop in Kitchen
* Graveyard in Living Room
* Blacklight lit hallway (hung black garbage bags and wrote everyone's names on them with white paint)
* Stalker's room with newspapers everwhere
* Spider Room
* Creepy Bug Collector's room
* Voodoo Swamp
We're thinking about possibly expanding the Stalker's room into the entire theme this year, since we'll have more time to focus on finding newspapers to circle words, find magazine models to cut out and paste pictures of our guest's faces on...etc....
OR a candy shop theme, where when you first walk in it's all bright and shiny with lollipops and candy canes, but the further you walk the creepier the scenery gets until it's really gory with candy ingredients being limbs and blood spattered all over the kitchen.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Since I don't know what place the party can be at, I need theme ideas for both small places (apartment) and big places (House + Yard)

you can alway have your guest bring a friend to make the party more merry. And invite the nieighbor as well.
I think I like that candy theme... Kinda fit my sister and me's idea of candy shop horror.
you can still use the same theme last year, just swith it all around.

I had been planning since last halloween to center my party around the stalker theme. I have since switched to evil carnival and pushed off stalker theme for next year. I think you should do the stalker theme and give me ideas for next year! haha Seriously though, i find the idea of stalkers...and i mean the obsessed, demented kind...very creepy. I like the idea of the candy shop, but i tend to lean more towards the scary.

Themes well I did them last year. I can tell you what I did last year and this year. Bathroom a psycho themed room complete with bloody shower curtain, hallway was spider victim with dropping spiders, kitchen witches kitchen potions, cauldron food, living room vampires lair, basement dungeon. This year keeping witches kitchen but hallway predator vs aliens, bathroom mad lab! LOL and basement DISCO is Dead! Hope some of those ideas help.

I like both themes. I would lean towards the stalker/murderer theme. I think there are tons you can do with this.
You could have your stalker bathroom. But you could also do a room of just dolls, with taped up mouths and arms. Pretty creepy. You could also do a white room with creepy or bloody writing all over the walls..but everything else is completely white.
Invites for Stalker
You could also send invites like ransom letter style with magazine clippings of letters. That say something like "I have been watching you. The way you get ready in the morning is so delicious. I want to share that bar of soap you use to shower. I'm coming for you." Something creepy like that. I'm sure you can come up with something better. Then maybe have a Letter from the police accompanying the ransom style invite. The police letter can say that they found the ransom type note addressed to (invitee) in a suspects house. They found several notes addressed to others. They are taking all potential victims to the house to see if they recognize anything or can help figure out who the killer is. etc"
Stalker Games
Then you could do the winking murderer game with best death prizes...or maybe a murder mystery game. You can plant clues around the party for the murder mystery game. Tons of ideas if you the search function.
Hope this helps with the brainstorming!!!_________

Oh, other theme ideas. I'm doing a Zombie Apocalypse. Actually, several members are doing the zombie theme this year. There's already a ton of great stuff on this forum about this theme. Do a search for Zombie...and you'll find a bunch.
Oh, I've also seen a bunch of people planning a Alice in Wonderland. Some great ideas for those. Really great.
As for the candy theme. I love the idea that it gets creepier the further you go in!! I wonder how you could tie in invites and other stuff for that theme. It could be very cool!_________
