Hey everyone! Like a lot of you I have started thinking about and preparing for Halloween 2010. Last year we did Sleepy Hallow after a couple of years of Pirates. I built a new hearse that turned out pretty good. I need to incorporate my hearse in this year's theme. I am reusing my hearse and scarecrow. My crypt got destroyed (don't ask). I am going to have to build something new to house my flying ghost. Normally I am a wealth of ideas but my creative juices have run dry thus far this year. I did pickup a mannequin the other day at a thrift shop - I thought it was a cool find. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Not sure what kind of party you have (kids or adults or a mix) but a hearse would fit great in a funeral themed party. We had one last year and it was a big hit....no hearse though
There were crocodile tears for our dearly beloved long last uncle and a fight to the end for his inheritance after the will was read. And he was so shocked at their behavior that he even rose from the dead! lol Here are some pics:

Thanks - those are some cool props you have. We have an adult party - this will be the 14th year. Everyone craves a pumpkin. We give prizes for best pumpkin and best costume. It is always a good time. We normally have between 20 and 30 people over. We have never done a funeral party.

I also did a funeral theme last year (and also lacked a hearse) but it was lots of fun planning it and coming up with stuff (despite the fact that our party was sparse due to flu taking out most of our invitees).

We did end up having guests write their names on slips of paper as they arrived and drew names to fill in the blanks at the end of the evening for a "reading of the will" prize giveaway. The main beneficiary had to open the coffin (full sized wooden toe pincher set up in the back yard - you could have the grand prize in your hearse!) to retrieve their prize from the hands of a full sized skeleton. It was quite funny!

This year's party theme - funeral!

Link to last year's album. Several items were created to bring in the funeral/graveyard theme...

Oh, and just for fun, here's the National Funeral Museum thread from last year... beautiful hearses there!
