So after four years of parties where the guests really made extraordinary efforts and came up with some amazing costumes, we've decided to reward them this year with a "dress as you want - no regular clothing allowed" party, so they can chose whatever costume they wish.
Years before, we did "Magic", "Monsters" "Faeries and Goblins" and "Zombies".
However, we've had an idea for next year, 2011, that I wanted to share. I've never seen anything similar mentioned here, so I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else liked the idea.
Pajama Party of the Damned.
Here's the idea...
Using makeup or masks or prosthetics, you make yourself into whatever horrible or evil abomination you want, the cursed and the demonic, the warped and the monstrous.
You wear loungewear, pajamas, robes, slippers, lingerie, snuggies, sleepwear (no full nudity allowed).
The party area is covered in pillows, no furniture. The primary snack will be hot cider, popcorn and homemade hot chocolate.
Now knowing you guys, I'm betting some of you could take this idea and really turn it into something fun and unique.
Hope this notion is useful.

Fun, funny Costumes and embarrassment! –
05-29-2010,04:15 PM
A couple came dressed as a bride and groom...Pretty tame costume I thought, until they turned around!
Their clothing was all cut away, held on by small straps exposing a whole lot of skin back there.
I was asked to go to a classmates Halloween party, "We will all be around the campfire in my yard."
I showed up, everyone was pretty well disguised. I went as a recently castrated Nazi, then I find out it was a adult church bible study group! Whoops!
I didn't know my old classmate was into the church social scene at all."My Insanity is well-respected, until they wiggle free and become a stringer for a tabloid"

I think this is a FABULOUS idea!!!! I love the pajama take and of course the cider and hot chocolate and popcorn. What fun! That sounds like a very different take on a party and I would imagine it would be very comfortable.
I do a Christmas cookie exchange party and one of the ideas I had for next year was to make it a PJ Cookie Exchange. I was going to use Christmas fun slippers as favors or door prizes. Like Jack Skellington, the grinch, the abominable snowman, you know the kind you find around Christmas in the stores. Maybe you could do something similiar only Halloween related. The Jack Skellington slippers would still work, Ive seen the oogie Boogie man slippers and even skeleton ones too. Just a thought to tie in the PJ theme. You could even give funky Halloween socks for people to change into when they arrive. I dont know just thinking out loud
Linus: You've heard about fury and a woman scorned?
Charlie Brown: Yes, I guess I have.
Linus: Well that is nothing compared to the fury of a woman who has been cheated out of tricks or treats!

That sounds like a really fun party! Might need a few chairs though incase some of your guests have bad knees or backs though lol. Personally my knees don't get along good with pillows on the floor lol

That sounds really fun, lots of potential- I'm going to think on it, and come back to this thread. At some point though, when everyone is snug and cozy on their pillows, you've got to have a Slumber Party Massacre scare waiting in the wings.
