Party was on Saturday. Being the procrastinators we are, the wife & I were rushing around like crazy people to cook, set up decorations, & get dressed for the party. But it got done in time. The food turned out pretty good. The menu btw:
Vampire Killer Burgers (garlic mini burgers)
Deviled Crab Cups (crab dip in filo cups)
'Choke Cups (artichoke dip in filo cups)
Dead Meatballs (chorizo & andouille meatballs)
Vampire Stakes (celery & carrot sticks)
Chocolate Death Cupcakes (Devils food cupcakes)
Creepy Cajun Nut Mix (seasoned, coated & baked mixed nuts)
Bayou Bites (Halloween-shaped pastries filled with spinach & ricotta)
Scary 'Shrooms (moshrooms stuffed with red beans & rice)
Swamp Water (Midori, vodka, pineapple juice & Sprite)
Hurricanes (gold rum & fruit punch)
And just about every kind of alcohol under the sun.
The decorations turned out awesome for the most part...especially for our first try. Music & movies were well received. Everyone really got into the games- Lightning Reaction, Pick Your Poison & Box of Fate (our version of Tempt your Fate). The two main bad things were the weather (like a lot of you experienced, it rained off & on all night) and lack of turnout. Due to a variety of reasons, we got about a third of the number of people we expected. The folks that did show up were awesome- all in costume, loved the food & drink and really dug the decorations. Most of the small group stayed later than we expected, too. Which was good. Hopefully, the turnout next year will be better. But all & all, I thought our first Halloween party was a relative success. Here are a few pics I took before the party & one of the wife & I someone took with our camera. We were so busy hosting & whatnot, we didn't really take too many pics. Some of the guests did, and I'll hopefully get those soon & post them as well.
