So I hosted my first halloween haunted barn party this year and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In fact, I never really thought about Halloween this much before but had a great time building new things and getting everything together. It's amazing what changes when you have a fiance with some quirks

So it took me roughly a month to decorate with everything going on and the space is 36 x 44. I'll post some pictures once I get an account set up.

The barn was divided into roughly 5 areas and wasn't meant as a haunted house but more of a party space. There was a brief entrance portion, central dance area, seating area, food area, and gathering area.

Some of the challenges I had I'd like some feedback on if possible.

    1. How do you cheaply cover large wall spaces?

My challenge here is that I start with bare drywall and my walls are HUGE.... 40 ft long and 12 ft high. This year I used the plastic wall streamers you buy from spirit but I was wondering if there's another way. Next year I think it would be really cool if I could do the ceiling like a tent of something. Anyone ever had this issue?

    2. How do you get people to show and or remember?

Now I had a great time and everyone I cared about showed so I had about 50 people. However, I had more RSVP's and some people just plain flaked, and some forgot. I sent out my invite a month early so I'm guessing that was too early but I wanted to give people time to plan. Also, I never sent out a reminder because I didn't want to hassle anyone. However, people who RSVP and don't show cost me a lot in food.

    Thoughts?

Glad your party turned out great and I can't wait to see Pictures!! As for covering the walls I can't help you there since I've never dealt with walls that big....as for reminding people, it seems like no matter how much you reming people they will still forget! I sent out invites a month early also, then in the process posted stuff on facebook about how I was getting ready, or don't forget the party, etc. I had 48 RSVP's and only about 30 people showed. Some people told me they forgot, some ended up with sick kids, so not much you can do. What I do is a pot luck. I make a couple dishes (this year it was deserts) then I asked my other friends (the ones who show every year) to bring a bag of chips or a 2 liter or some dip so I didn't spend that much on food.

Have you ever considerd using jute errosion control fabric on your walls? It can give you texture and depth. I got 900 sq feet for $34.
    Undead and loving it!
