So just for fun, I took a hard-boiled egg, gently poke my finger into the shell all over, making lots of little spiderwebby cracks, and dunk it into a bowl of blueberry juice. Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes, then peeled away the shell. The result was like a cross between tie-dye and spiderwebs, although not as nice as Martha Stewart's came out (maybe cuz I didn't use organically homegrown blueberries from my 100-acre mansion in Maine). The picture really doesn't show the effect very well I'm afraid. Guess you gotta see it in person...
Then following a generic recipe for devilled eggs, (adding green food coloring), I stuffed the egg 1/2's with the mashed yolks, and set it yolk-side down on a little piece of lettuce. Topped it off with some black sesame seeds, a tiny sprig of dill, and a little salt.
Eat the egg, lettuce and all. I wanted to add little red onion legs, but my onion was suspiciously hairy.

I love both of the ideas!

I usually make deviled eggs (bedeviled), but run out of time to jazz them up like this... I must try to plan out more time this year!

That pic was from one of our first parties. Didn't have my brain or hand mold back then. I had found an idea for a 'bloody pasta salad' and filled the gloves with water and froze them. Gave a nice effect and kept the salad cool.

At least that's what I *think* I did haha I remember trying so many things back then. Floating hands in the punchbowl, radish eyes in the punchbowl and those eggs.

Here's a pic after I had the hand and brain mold

And here are some other mice made from radishes. A dutch friend of ours made them She works for a catering company

MsMeeple - what a great spread...
Bad Table Manner - I know that I let my eggs sit an hour in the cold juice and it worked great. The only problem I had with them is that the guests didn't see the webs because of the dim lighting. Lot of effort that was wasted, sigh. Gonna try your deviled egg recipe and the green food coloring...i will just remember to focus the lighting a little better this year.
