    Need Help - Halloween/Christmas Party

My theme this year is Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm not going with the theme based on the movie, but more of just a mix of Halloween and Christmas. For example, the tree is going up, but with orange lights, and skulls as the ornaments. We're going to have a "Dirty Santa" gift exchange (although we're still working on a Halloweenish name.) I would love input on decorations, games, food, anything that could go with the theme. I'm kind of at a loss for too many ideas. Thanks for any help you guys can come up with!

Edit: We expect to have about 25-30 people and plan to have appetizer and dessert type of food.

Check out the "Santa Claws" mask from Bump in the Night . BumpInTheNightProductions.com - Bump In The Night Productions Home

It's pretty cool - I bought it last year on ebay, and have yet to use it for Halloween = I did make the gemmy butler wear it last Christmas to greet our friends and family.

tpahallowguy I just wanted to tell you please oh please post your notes on what you are gonna do with your party. I am having a Halloween Christmas party in Dec., it will be the 1st meeting of haunters from the forum here that all live in the same area.........gonna see if I can steal some ideas from you!! (big grin)

If my party was in Oct. I would try to mix & interact as much xmas & halloween stuff as I could.
Maybe make halloween food & put it on xmas dishes. How many people are coming & what did you have in mind for food? Dinner or buffet or appetizers? Give us an idea on this so we can help you out. I would make a funny cake that is maybe decorated on the sides in red & green xmas w/ candy canes & then orange & black on top with skeletons.

I'm not real good with the game stuff but if you go back here in this section & just hunt thru stuff there are so many game suggestions. Also we have a lot of new members so they might just post here some new ideas.

I think there was someone on here last year that did a "When holidays Collide" theme.I wish I could remember who it was.
All I remember was he had his tombstones with draped with fiberfill snow, His skellies wore Santa hats, Santa's bag contained nightmarish type toys. I wish I could remember more, it was really creative. You might try "search".

You could have your favor bags be stockings, play a Halloween/Christmas trivia game, make a mix CD with Hallowen and Christmas music on it, def. serve eggnog but maybe put die in it make it green or orange or purple?.

Play the game where you wrap a gift a whole bunch of times and pass it around while music plays, when music stops you tear off as much paper as you can, when music starts pass it on again, last person with box get the gift, but make the gift something gross like a body part or something. You could use Halloween and Christmas paper to wrap it.

Put out those blown plastic decorations like santa's, angels and mix with Halloween ones in your front yard. If you have some of those deer made of lights put those out but have the sleigh be a coffin.

One year my bro in law came to a Hallowen party in a santa suit/hat/beard but he had on a skeleton mask and an ax, he looked really scary!!

Have plates of Christmas cookies but make them all gross like fingers, etc. Put out a plate with cookies and put plastic roaches and worms on them and put a note written in blood with a smeared hand print that says FOR SANTA, put a glass of milk with bloody hand prints on it.

"Teacher says, every time a bell rings a demon gets its wings!" (ha, ha)

Serve ham but call it Reindeer meat or make a chili or stew but say that it has reindeer meat in it.

Cut snowflakes out of black and orange paper, hang everywhere like in Elf.

Take two pant legs (red) stuff and pin black boots to bottom to look like Santa's legs, hang from the ceiling to look like he crashed through the roof.
Or do the same thing and stuff santa legs and put them outside under your car tire to look like santa got ran over! (Or Grandma run over by a reindeer!!)

For prizes give out Christmas and Hallowen movies or give out Silent Night, Deadly Night DVD's.

Make dead gingerbread men, I make plain gingerbread men, frost them white, make little x's for their eyes and put a bullet hole in their head! You could also make them missing limbs, broken, etc. I have actually seen a cookie cutter set on Amazon that was broken gingerbread men. You could also make a haunted gingerbread house.

You can have a lot of fun with this theme!!!

Oh Tallula - great ideas! I agree, you could have some fun with this. Maybe spray the fake snow in your windows and then color it red like blood. Have your guests all come in some kind of "Christmas Gone Wrong" costume, like Santa Zombies or whatever they can come up with. You'll probably have some pretty cool costumes come out of the woodwork!
