Default Jack o lanterns as luminaries

We live in the middle of nowhere (great story on our house- it used to be the general store!!) and I am thinking of lining the last few tenths of a mile with lighted carved jack o lanterns the night of the haunt to light the way for our guest... What does everyone think?

I think that would be a fantastic looking effect, but with a small reservation.

Just in case, I would go with the battery-operated tealights to prevent the risk of fire. Unattended pumpkins can be a fire hazard.

sounds GREAT!, but I agree about using battery powered lights due to the fire hazard. I'm jealous! pumpkins cost more than I'm willing to pay for that many.

That sounds cool. Here is an alternative if the cost of pumpkins is too much:
You could use plastic milk jugs, cut off most of the top section of jug leaving just the bottom and sides, line bottom with just enough sand or dirt to give the jug some weight, and then place a medium to small candle in middle of the sand/dirt. We use these along our path of our hanted forest its just enouhg light to light the way for them. And it cost less. You could also use battery operated lights too, for safety reasons.

I would worry about the cost...but if that isn't a variable I say go for it! Sometimes ideas sound good iuntil you actually try it. Just sounds really costly to me.There are alot of people on this forum that can give you ideas..help you out. I have 28 pumpkins for my kitchen now and I didn't spend over 2.00 a piece for any of them. (Most were .50-2.00 each)
They are fake and will last forever.Took years and alot of time...so if this is what your dream is go for it but don't break the bank and excpect this to to happen in one year.Good Haunting!!

Not too worried about the cost- I have a big garden full, and the local kids sell the size I want for about 50 cents each. I do like the battery lights idea though.

I think its a great idea, and the tea lights for safety. Will look great leading up to your graveyard.

You could get fake pumpkins, carve them then use them year after year. You'll make the money back in no time. : )
