Ok, I needed some quick trophies and I don't have access to any cute skeletons or tombstones. I do however have access to cheap barbie type dolls....also had gold spray paint in the shed. So I bought some rip off barbies...actually more like Skipper...since they are smaller than barbie and rolls of medical tape. The dolls had large, strangely shaped heads but they were the cheapest I could find. I couldn't find any cute stands to put them on and Pieter didn't have much scrap wood left over, so had to make do with small, plain stands.

I have to tell you that making those things was a trip. I felt like I was playing 'bondage barbie' haha But they didn't turn out so bad....for a quickie. I made them all the same. I wanted to cross their arms across their chests but their arms weren't bendable Decided to wrap them up with their hands in front of them, which probably wasn't the best idea since they now have a lump on the front side lol But yeah, does that really matter when you have a rod up your you know what anyway?

I do have a question. What did you use for the sashes and how did you get the nice letters on it? Looks like ribbon?

    Thanks for the idea.

i think they are good! maybe not "oscar" quality but certainly cute and great for a party. my parties never seem to lend themselves to "trophy ceremony" but we still have fun and I don't have to make new trophies every year . I think you did a good job!

If you go to a rescue mission or goodwill, they should have plenty of barbie dolls. They sell them pretty cheap (under $1) because most of them have missing clothes. I bought 10 barbies and some bottles that looked like old poison bottles for a grand total of $8. As for the sashes, they are most likely ribbon and they look like sticker letters that you would find for scrapbooking. You could also use stencils and some paint as well.... depending on how much time you have to work with these.

Brava! Very nice work! The over-sized heads actually add to their charm... sorta cartoonish. I am honored to have inspired you. By the way, Mrs LV Scott T did as much work on them as I did. In fact, the sashes were her work. She printed the text on clear labels & stuck them to green ribbon.

thank you, thank you *bowing to the master* lol

Maybe I'll get your name next year for the secret reaper thing and I'll send you some rip off barbies with funny shaped heads haha Ok, off to go see if I can find some clear labels
By the way, how did you get the gold from getting in their eyes when you spray painted them? or did you paint them with a brush?

Oh, the eyes! I took pea-sized pieces of foam (torn from a cheap foam paint brush) and stuck them in the gaps before spray painting.

Thanks! For the first one, I stuffed a tiny bit of cotton in the gap. Didn't work well. For the second one, I used a piece of cardboard to shield the eyes while spraying...ended up with a gold finger lol Got one more to do, will try the foam.
