Here is my attempt at bat soaps. I put quite a lot of colorant in this soap but it ended up a dark grey. I guess they look ok, but I would have liked them better if they were black. Still, I will be giving them out as one of the gifts at my 2nd annual Halloween Bash, along with the soap dish.

I used melt and pour white soap, melted it in the microwave for 40 seconds then added soap scent oil, and about 5 dropper-fulls of colorant. I let the soap cool for 45 minutes. I really wish the soap was darker but I ended up with a dark grey soap. I bought two soap kits from Michael's one was on sale for 7.99 and the other I got for 10.00 after using a coupon.

I agree with the others, very nice. The grey may be better anyway- guests may be worried about using a black soap and it staining their hands (even though proper colourants won't!)

You may want to go to a health food store or similar and see if you can find a black soap you can melt down and re-mold (double boiler). I'm sure I've seen some kind of soap that's naturally black, but I think it had "bits of something" in it. Purple would also look good.

They are still great, even if they are gray. Great idea!
