I am in going to school to become an event planner and already have 2 weddings booked in 2012 and have been working on other events over the last couple years so the annual Halloween has slowly become the ONLY event I plan for myself and my friends whereas I used to plan other events such as a large party in the summer. As I get older I also find that my friend-base is kinda dwindling (not that it bothers me as these are close friends) but the party shrunk in size in 2011 much to my surprise after a steady increase in size and I was pretty peeved about this, after the amount of effort I put into it. To top it off I drank too much and can't remember half the night (freaking absinthe!). So I'm thinking 2012 will be a similar amount of effort and turnout. So if I can throw such a big event, perhaps I should publicize and jut make it public? Thoughts?

Has anyone else moved a private event to a public event before? Advice?

I was thinking that I may pair with a local bar or something and split the small cover then I could do what I do every year but it wouldn't cost me as much and I could recoup some, if not all, the money spent on it.

On a side note, I am seriously considering "Disco Is Dead" (Zombie/Disco) theme either way.
