Luckily, it doesn't snow where I live, but there have been a few parties where the weather was very cold.
We use 2 propane heaters to warm things up, but when it is cold outside, the tanks kinda freeze up and stop working.
Someone suggested that I place a heating pad around the tank to keep it warm. I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not....
Does anyone else have this issue and/or have a solution?

Interesting to note. How do propane tank heaters do in the wind? Considered adding one to our patio and also wondered if it would come in handy during ToT when you'd like to sit outside waiting for the ToTers but the cold has you wanting to stay inside.

I love it when the Canadians tell the Californians about cold... We define cold as -20 celcius, Skelly cat , not sure what California defines as cold but Im sure its not that.

I knew that would give you Canadians especially a chuckle!
Actually i spent some time back east and in the Chicago area and spent some pretty nasty winter evenings while there. It's funny but when you first move to a climate like California where your winters average generally somewhere in the 40s to 50s but with occasional temps in the 30s and high 20s, you quickly start feeling the cold and it seems funny because you went through much colder -0 and below temps when you were back east. Heck, light to moderate rain is billed as a storm out here! In all fairness the rain can cause flash floods and landslides and such so it can be serious for those in those areas. We do get some pretty strong wind gusts too, but yeah we become babies to weather conditions, especially those of us that live in valley areas where the temps are more moderated. Sometimes I wish we lived further south and were warmer still. I'm definitely not an igloo kind of gal.

Thanks CalgEerie. I'll have to investigate the heat blanket. I guess if they make one especially for propane heaters, it must be safe. (wouldn't want anything blowing up!)
I appreciate the help.
ihauntu- ya, although no where near as cold (freezing!) as where you live, I know my friends dressed in those thin costumes would be cold at 65 degrees (my party is outside). I would not know how to handle life at 4 below 0! LOL!
I've only been to the snow 2 or 3 times. I really don't know why, it's only a few hrs away. It so beautiful.

It's cold in Cali when you need to wear socks with your Birkenstock sandles! I wear sandles all year round now and during winter those toes sure can get cold!!
