Last year I went all out and had a sit down dinner party with tons of food, prizes and games. This year my husband and I moved into an apartment (instead of a house) and the holiday has crept up on me. This year we are having a party in a much smaller place with a much smaller budget. I have already bought all of the food (chili, lil smokies w/bbq, sand "witches", deviled eggs, candy, pretzels, soda), but I haven't planned any games. Last year I did tempt your fate, but I couldn't get very many people to play until they started drinking. Trivia would be fun, but I don't know if I have enough time to get a list of questions together. My biggest fear is having a bunch of uncomfortable people sitting around my living room and being bored!

You could play mummy wrap, or bobing for apples or donuts, they have free printable quiz sheets all set up for you on line with questions and answers set up. Have a look around.
Hope you have fun, I too have to rush things this year, going on holiday days after..lol!!!

the same thing happened to me this year, 15 people sitting around in a circle in the living room waiting for something to entertain them (me!) We played charades which turned out great. I also bought a blow-up witches hat ring toss (at Target) so we had a few rounds of that. Next year I'll have scary pictionary. Something quicker to put together would be a "match the killer with the victim" game - print out pictures of killers and victims (separate pictures). hand them out to each guest and start the timer. the first match wins! that wont take a long time, but you could collect the pictures, repass them out and do it again. Another idea would be to get monopoly or other fake money and have an ongoing "beg barter and steal" game going...distribute the money evenly between guests at the beginning of the party. then tell them they have to beg, barter, steal, wager, bet, etc to get other guests' money- what will people do to earn money? shots? lap dances? funny dances in front of everyone? truth or dare? bet on other people's bets? bet that something will or will not happen at the party? bet on who will win other games? the person with the most money at the end of the night wins!
I hope this helps and is not too late.. Happy Halloween!

There is a game called AtmosFEAR which is part board game and part DVD game. We love it and play on a day near Halloween each year. You can easily find it on-line too!

We're doing winking murder game again this year. Out of all the games we played over the years, it got the best response. Our murder victims stayed where they died until the murderer was discovered, which was a riot and a great photo op!

Well, it looks like my husband and I may only be having three or four guests this year. Everyone else either had to work or didn't want to drive up to Denver in the snow. Oh well, I guess that makes it easier to watch scary movies and play board games. I am pretty disappointed though =( I spent a lot on food and the party is tomorrow night.

Another fun and simple game that someone posted about here in the past was the head waiter game. You have two blown up balloons with faces painted on them. Then you need two paper plates and guests divided into two relay teams. Divide them up and put half of each on each end of the area. A member of each team runs to the other end and their team carrying the Head on the paper plate. They cant touch the head. If and when it falls off the plate, thy can place it back on and then continue the game. The team that finishes first wins.
I also have two cool looking heads that are made of squishy material and have batteries that make them shake and wiggle. I had planned to use them in a pass the head sort of game sort of like Hot Potato with Halloween music playing. When the music stops the one with the head is out of the game. They are really funny and weird feeling. The shaking makes it very interesting in even touching them much less passing them around.
A game we used last year was I played the music theme songs from various Halloween movies and they had to guess the movie. I have numerous CDs with these one them. I printed off papers with my theme and some movie stuff on it with numbered lines. The one who got the most right won.
Could do the same game with photos from movies. In fact Heather on here has some great graphics to go with this one. I am working on one like this for witches for next year.
Could also use tv theme songs for Halloween. (have one game with the scarier ones and one of the lightere ones.
No one ever tires of the Mummy wrap game.
Also we do a mock karoake with them singing things like the Flying Purple People Eater Song, Addams family theme, Munsters theme, "I'll put a spell on you" from Hocus Pocus, Bad Moon Rising, etc.
