    Smile Party for a Cause! – 10-14-2011,11:40 AM


    Hi all,

    Just wanted to share an experience from last year that made my annual Halloween party that much better. :-) Around the time of the party, a friend of mine lost her father to cancer. In honor of her dad and of several others, we changed the theme of the party to "Lurch for the Cure." I dressed as a zombie and we made a big banner and had a donation jar. We ended up getting over $100 which we donated to the American Cancer Society. Everyone had a blast lurching, there was also a halfhearted attempt at doing the Thriller dance, and it felt great to know that our party was doing some good as well.

    This year I think I'm going to combine the Tempt Your Fate game with the donation jar. Anyone who gives gets a chance to Tempt their Fate (which good and "horrible" prizes galore). Should be a blast.

    That is a great idea! We have a Relay for Life team. Our next Relay isn't until June, but is it ever to early to start fund raising?!? I might have to borrow your idea!
