Soo I found this forum and am in LOVE!! Thank you all for all your awesome ideas!! They have inspired me to throw my FIRST Halloween party!!I'm super excited. My fiance and I are tag-teaming it with another couple. So it will be great to have extra hands in throwing everything together. Basically all we have done are the e-vites and I put some shopping lists together. We are throwing an adult/kiddie party the weekend after Halloween (Nov 5) so that we can (hopefully) score some awesome deals on everything we need for the party--since we don't have any decorations or anything!! (EEK)! We are waiting to do mostly everything till the week of, but I would like to put the kiddy goody bags and some contest prizes together sooner rather than later. I need some ideas on what to put in the bags!! Please share any input on what you have done in the past & pictures would also be great!! I kind of want to put toothbrushes in the kiddy bags. Would that be too lame?! lol I need help and ideas on everything for this party!! Soo any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!

Haha!! Well that is why we are throwing the party AFTER Halloween.
That, and there's a ton of other parties going on the weekend before. I'm pretty excited about it though! My girlfriends and I are going to head out together and see what we can find!! I just don't know when the best day to go would be--the day after or a few days after. I want to get the best deals but I want to make sure there's still stuff left!

This may be too short for this year, but two sites that have great stuff for stuffing gift bags with are:
www.orientaltrading.com
www.ustoy.com
I have an actual US Toy store in my city, so it's fun to go pick up stuff there, but the websites have a MUCH better selection and you can buy things in large groupings for lots of favor bags and the like.
As far as decor, check out your local thrift stores. Not only should they have some odds and ends of Halloween decorations (if you're really lucky), you can get things that spookify your house that aren't "halloween" specifically - old white sheets to throw over the furniture, candelabras and funky candleholders (I picked up a beautiful 8 arm silver plated candelabra for $6 a few years ago) and weird decorations that might look spooky with a coat of black spray paint...
Dollar stores always have tons of decorations. You can also find things for the gift bags and awards as well...
Get some cheesecloth from the fabric store, rinse it in coffee or tea to make it aged looking, or in regular laundry detergent and use with a black light to get a glow - and then rip and tear and pop holes into it and drape it from light fixtures, doorways, hang as curtains... just not near flame or super hot bulbs.
Get some party bulbs and switch out your regular ones for some blue, green, purple or orange lights. They make blacklights for regular light sockets now, just be sure they look like this:

and not like a regular incandescent bulb (the real blacklight bulbs cost around $4 or more. don't bother with the $1 incandescent versions as they don't put out any light hardly and they get really hot)I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

Wow thanks!! Those are all some great pointers!!
I am sUPER excited about this party--you could say a little obsessed.
haha. I'm on here daily getting ideas. I want this party to be awesome!! I will DEF stalk all of the stores around here right around Halloween. I hope I get a good stock of Halloween stuff to have for following years!! This is our first house (my fiance is in the Army) and we have one more Halloween before he deploys again.
I really want to make this party a tradition and keep it going no matter where we PCS (get moved) to!

I have picked stuff up at Toys R us before...everything usually goes for about 75% off about a week before Halloween...I have also heard from one of my Walgreen Manager friends that they will start clearancing theirs out early do to preparing for Christmas. But in the meantime hit Dollar Tree or any of the dollar stores...great deals, but they are already starting to shift the stock from Halloween to Christmas. I was so disappointed when I went to buy more creepy cloth (as other stores sell it for $5-6) and they were out
Good luck, hope you have an wicked party
