I'm OCD about planning & my significant other is much more laid back. It probably works best that way!

OMG-I needed this thread! I have been laughing all the way through it. My hubby & I have been fighting like crazy over the past month because of my stress & OCD issues involving the Halloween party. When I read MissMandy's thing about her husband cutting the cheese wrong I laughed out loud. That reminds me so much of me & my hubby. Last night before bed he told me that I'm raising his blood pressure. I'm realizing that I really need to figure out how to be a little more laid back when it comes to getting ready for the party. I totally lose it sometimes. I think it's all the stress from thinking about what I need to do 24-7 & then wanting everyting to be PERFECT! My goal is to get through the next week & a half without fighting with him & to enjoy the process from here on out. Wish me luck!!!

I don't think my husband really understands all the details that have to be in order to throw a good party (I do all the shopping, invites, cooking, etc), but he is great about prepping the yard, lighting the firepit, and knows to get cleaning the day of! I think he handles the outside stuff just cause he has learned over the years to stay out of my way!

Ok I'm not clueless BUT I have arranged to do things right before my parties before... I am doing it again this year too. It's because I have certain Halloween related events I want to go to and I keep finding out things are planned on the day of my party after I sent out the invitations! If I hadn't sent them out already I might have changed the date...
So this year one of my favorite events is the same day as my party. It is 11-4 and my party starts at 6:30. I know I'm crazy. I'm hoping the contest part will end fairly early because it's a 45 minute drive back home... I'm planning things as if my party was actually the night before, so I should be able to have most things ready before then. I already knew I would have to do most of the cooking 2 days ahead of time because I need to use a friend's kitchen so everything will be kosher since many of my friends keep kosher. So I think it will work out ok although I am sure I'll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But it's worth it not to miss the event!
I also found out there is a zombie festival the day of my party, which really stinks because there is no way I can get to that one.
