I'm looking to use an ultrasonic mister for my punch bowl but what is the current thinking on this? Will it work w/o gumming up the mister?
Most of the recipes for punch involve a sherbert which I know has to be off-limits. Any good recipes that aren't so thick?

That's a good question. I have a couple of those misters too and I'd love to put it in punch. But the 2 I plan on making this year, both call for sherbet. Last year, I just bought a couple of gallons of already made fruit punch then added 2 bottles of champagne, a bottle of rum and a 2 ltr of sprite. Everyone loved it and it wasn't thick. So maybe that would work? After having the mister in punch all night, I'd let it run through plain water for awhile.

I bought a punch fountain from Amazon for $30 that I intend to use for a Halloween Party. I found this recipe in a punch recipe book that seems like it might be a good option.
4 bottles “still” [as opposed to sparkling] Catawba wine
1 bottle claret
3 oranges OR 1 pineapple
10 tbs. sugar
1 bottle champagne
Four bottles of still Catawba; one bottle of claret, three oranges, or one pineapple, ten tablespoons of sugar. Let this mixture stand in a very cold place, or in ice, for one hour or more, then add one bottle of champagne.

I'm interested to know what you end up using and how it goes. Good luck!

A lot of the recipes I've seen with sherbet, it seems you could easily leave it out and it would still be tasty.

I had wondered a few years ago about using one.But decided against it my reason is the mist would be sticky if it floated anywhere that would be sticky. Please let us know if you do it and how it turns out.

Here is one someone suggested to me, I'm planning to make it without the ice cream for my party:

I don't know if the carbonated soda might not work with the mister though?
Below is my usual Halloween punch recipe I make every year, which consists of orange drink (or orange Hawaiian Punch since actual 'orange drink' is hard to find lately) and grape juice. It sounds boring but everyone always raves about it at my parties, and I have to refill the punch bowl several times even though I have small parties. If you have a larger party you'll need more than the one bottle mentioned below, in fact last time I made it I think I used up two big bottles of orange Hawaiian Punch and 2 bottles of grape juice and that was a party with maybe 15 people.
Murky Halloween Punch
(I don't have the exact recipe anymore, so this is estimated)
1 bottle 'orange drink'
1 bottle purple grape juice
1 to 4 oranges
-Slice oranges into wedges and remove seeds.
-Place oranges in a large baggie and pour in grape juice until slices are covered.
-Place baggie in fridge for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
-Remove oranges and check color-- pulp should be purple/black.
-Pour off excess grape juice and place baggie with wedges in freezer until frozen.
-For punch: pour orange drink into punch bowl, and add enough grape juice so the punch appears slightly murky (or to taste.)
-When serving punch, place some orange wedges into the bowl. The wedges will keep the punch cold and as the grape juice-soaked wedges melt, the punch will get murkier and murkier!
I also sometimes freeze some grapes and add those to the punch as well.Zombie Eradication/Disposal Unit (ZEDU) - K-9 Patrol Division
