I originally wanted to do a twisted tales themed haunted trail. However, time got away from me and I had to switch it up.
Anyway, we are doing a generic haunted trail using black plastic to create a path through the trees. We've got that jumping spider everybody's been talking about, a dropping spider, a witch stirring a cauldron, the spooky light-up shaking eyes in the cedar tree and my friend is going to play a zombie in the graveyard. I went out and bought purple lighting to shine up in the trees, a blue spotlight for the cemetery, we'll have the ground fogger going and I created an awesome spooky music playlist on iTunes to play. My husband wants to put his deer cam in a tree facing the spider so he can catch the kids expressions when the spider jumps!
Oh, and my husband will also be wearing a guile suit and is going to jump at the kids as they exit the trail. I can't wait! This is our first haunted trail, but our 4th family party. Oh, the age range is 6-11 years old, so I'll also have pumpkin carving and a large inflatable haunted house to run through. We're cooking brunswick stew in an iron kettle over a fire and a Boo Bar set up with wine and cheese for the adults, and I've asked each family to bring sweets for the kids to eat. The night will end with a costume contest where the kids will judge the adults and the adults will judge the kids and I bought 2 trophies, one for each age group, then a bunch of ribbons for the runners up. I wish I could do a theme, but it never works out that way. I always just end up using stuff I have plus adding 1 or 2 new items. Anyway, I'm soooooo excited!!!
