Hi folks,

Someone gave me the idea (on this forum), to turn my walk-in lounge into a hotel lobby. The whole theme of the house is horror/slasher movie (door from lounge goes to small modern white gloss kitchen (thinking typical bloody knifes hanging up/blood spilled surfaces etc) then into the conservatory dining room (torture room with skeletons hanging from the brick walls and a full sized edible dead man).

I could do with some help on deciding what essential props I need for the entrance lounge, whether to make it a Victorian haunted lobby (house is victorian terraced), a modern one 'abandoned' ie cobwebs, or modern 'currently-in-use' one i.e the latter being welcoming guests to sign in, then when they go through the main door, they see the horrors that lye within (sort of thing).

All the rooms are pretty small, the lounge is modern contemporary with a big brick fireplace.

So in the far corner, I'm doing as she suggested and making a fake reception desk with perhaps a bloody foot sticking out the side. It will only be material draped over the counter as I have to build it up with boxes etc.

Now the issue is the fireplace. It's wide and has a small log burner in it. I was thinking of making it onto a fake elevator (with cardboard or paper painted on) and then ripping the bits lower down so you can see part of the log burner (will put in fake glowing lights otherwise it might set fire to the prop!) with Freddy Cruger's hand coming out.
Husband says its too much work and will look naff, but we need to change something in the room or it will just look like our lounge! It's approx 12x12'

This is the view when you enter the room (door behind you) - piccy from our first year general halloween theme. The big bookcase is gone now by the fire but you can see what I have to work with! lol

- Any other ideas would be great! Do you think I should have more of a set theme ie haunted hotel or still keep to a mix so it's easier to work (and cheaper!!)

Thanks!!
