Thread: What Candy do you remember from your childhood?

My theme this year is Time Travel and I ordered about $100 of candy from 'Old Time Candy'. I can't believe the flashbacks I felt just smelling it. Some of the things I bought : Candy Cigarettes, Zots, Freshen up Gum, licorice pipes, marshmallow ice cream cones, Planter's peanut bar, Push Pops, Slap Stix, Space Food Sticks, Candy Buttons, Nik-L-Nips, Rainbow coconut bar, Country Store Taffy, Wax Lips and My Husbands favorite Big League Chew.

What was your Favorite as a Kid?

Umm i love zotz.....and delpha rolls. Which they dont make any more...

i hated those peanut butter kisses when I was a kid...now i love them and there's very little peanut butter, if any, in them. Pixie stix. Zero bars. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I used to love candy cigarettes! Oh and the zero bars too! Do they still make those?

LOVED Zero bars. They do still make them. (My grandfather ran a little country gas station, and every time I visited, he would always get me a zero candy bar and a bottle of Coke from the old fashioned Coke machine where the bottles pulled out of slots... GOOD memories associated with that candy!)

I've found a store in Houston (Candylicious in Montrose for any folks in the area) that carries a huge variety of candy and they have one of the largest selections of candy cigarettes I've ever seen... so they get them from someplace!

I liked the candy cigarettes too but even when I was a kid they were hard to find...

I liked those marshmallow ice cream cones too, but usually could only find those at an actual candy store.

I'm older than a lot of people here, and Canadian, so I'm not sure if these'll seem weird.

Things I remember are sponge toffee, Bottle Caps and a chocolate bar called "Chocolate Chunks" which were basically just thick solid DENSE hunks of chocolate that you had to gnaw on. I think the Peanut Butter cups were always my favourites.

Smell is one of the most effective triggers of memory, so it's no surprise you experienced that. Pretty cool, huh? I remember Marathon bars, those nasty French Burnt Peanuts, and Candy Buttons. My favorite though, is and always has been peanut butter cups. And anything that mixes orange and chocolate.

Yup. Same stuff, different name, just as sweet! (Haven't seen it in years!)
