Hey guys. I work at a hostel for homeless young people between the ages of about 16-20. At the moment I'm trying to persuade my manager to let us have a Hallowe'en party.
The thing is, these are very streetwise teens and I don't want to suggest doing anything they might think is dumb, you know? I want them to have fun and to want to come to the party (obviously it won't be compulsory for them to come so I'm going to have to hopefully persuade them that it'll be a good time and then they might come.)
Any ideas for a cool party for streetwise teens?

While I can't say I've done anything like that, I'd suggest using overt Horror themes - not subtle/spooky (although I like that), but things like freakish horror film villains, chainsaws, rubber severed limbs, pizza, and whatever music the kids at the shelter like. For that age group, the scarier the better - I say this because I'm IN that age group.
Good luck!
Some men would like to play God; I'd rather play the Devil...

i would make it a slasher/Horrer theme as well -maybe game related ( like silent hill-ish) lots of blood, and bodyparts as halloweenut wrote. Nothing cute or witchy just violence and horror lol.. oh and lots of metal music

Some ideas I've got so far are making caramel apples with them (they LOVE cooking and baking, because they get to pig out at the end LOL) a horror trivia game which I'll hopefully be able to snag a few prizes for whoever gets 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and then a horror movie and maybe pizza to finish off. We can only watch 15-rated films because some of the kids are under 18, but I've been researching it and apparently quite a lot of horror movies are 15 rated, like Paranormal Activity (which I own) The Strangers (which I also own) The Mist and The Eye, which I am going to buy in the next few days.
I've suggested to management that I could go round some of the local haunted attractions (there are loads in York) and try to get some freebie tickets to give out as prizes. There's also a local cinema which we have an agreement with, every week they donate free tickets to us.
Once I get the go-ahead from management I'll talk it up with the kids and ask them what they think of the ideas I've got and if there's anything else they'd like to do.
