Three years ago I swore off hosting Halloween parties. I loved having them so much and poured everything I had into them. But the last one broke my heart. If I recall corrected we had 36 people RSVP; between the day before and the day if the party about half called to say they were not making it for one reason or another.
But the bug has really bit me this week and reading all the Witches party post makes me want to host one. So now I a
Struggling with throwing this party last minute or waiting a whole year. Also I just don't want to go through all that work to be let down; do people seem to like the woman only idea and more likely to attend. Hubby said he doesn't care if it just the gals, and it sounds like a blast. Help I am really torn and need to jump on the stick if I am going to do this.

I would go for it. You will have to wait a whole year and you will be gritting your teeth when you read about and see the pics of other people's parties this year. But I would concentrate more on quality instead of quantity. Especially if you are going to have a Witches party which is more exclusive. You will probably have a great time with just a dozen people or so and it will be easier to prepare for. Good luck!

If you really have the bug this year, go for a smaller-sized but higher "quality" party as Hallowzeve suggested. Have just the girls over! Next year you can put more planning into an elaborate party and not be stressed out.

I know what it feels like to be let down last minute. For my last birthday, I had 4 guests turn up to our house(one of which was my brother)......out of 10 'close' friends.
I agree with the above, keep it small - just ask people you KNOW won't let you down. if you only expect a few, you can't be disappointed!

I say "go for it."
If I were you, I would have the party. Otherwise, I'd end up regretting it. But that's just me....
If you want to have a party and it's eating at you - then why not?

Good for you! I had the same issues a few years ago, and I too had sworn off the party throwing for a while. But I decided this year was going to be different. So I am throwing my own Halloween birthday party! I enjoy the planning and the plotting even more than I love the actual party I think. hehe. I hope you have a horribly haunted party!!
