We're playing Amnesia at our house, and letting the kids take turns at the controls. http://www.amnesiagame.com/#main I have OLDER teens, however. You may want to choose a horror game that has been ESRB rated safe for teens.

I'm a big fan of telling scary stories for some reason- that is a great way to go. So are movies. Take a look at the party games sections, and see if there's anything you can use. I love Werewolves of Miller's Hollow, and have mentioned it on a couple of threads now. Charades can be good once you get the kids warmed up and the ice broken. You can do a Halloween variation of Fruit Basket Upset, but only if you have a big area to work with http://www.ehow.com/how_7260479_play...t-basket_.html. Have fun!

If you have the space we have the kids play "Monster Tag" get a cheapie monster mask and he chases the kids around the yard until he tags one and the taggie becomes the monster.

I have a teenager and she has a cell phone as do all her friends. I would suggest doing a photo scavenger hunt using there phones. Base it off Halloween or whatever your theme is. It should take up most of that time while they wait. I know there are a few threads you could use to get some ideas.

Thanks for Miller's Hollow, that game looks awesome. That and monster tag should keep them busy for a while.
Two years ago I let the kids play mummy, where you give them rolls of toilet paper and they make mummies of one person, then you have a race. Instead they ran outside and toilet papered our yard. Last year no mummies, so they raided our bathrooms and again paper yard.

So this is such a better activity than leaving them to their own devices and having to clean toilet paper. They cleaned it up btw. LOL LOL LOL
