I like to have a Halloween movie playing as my guests walk in to the party. What movie do you have on the televison to get your guests in the mood for a Halloween party?

I've not done that before as it was too much sensory overload with a music background and people talking and such.
But a buddy had a projection of the Evil Dead on a white sheet in the backyard patio area that was a great touch! Campy, old school, not too crazy.

I have a movie playing but with the sound turned off. Last year we did Fangtasia, and I had True Blood and Interview with a Vampire playing (I know, not too original!). This year is Superheroes/Villains, and I found a Justice League DVD to play.
Plus I like the light the TV throws off when it's dark in the room.
But in my personal world the first mood setter is the Save-the-Date, then the invite. That's what gets them there.
Oooh eee oooh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang...

For the Black & White silent films, go with Call of Cthulu or Nosferatu the Industrial/Gothic remix.
But for a good movie for the mood my all time favorite at the moment is Trick R Treat! Watch it first and I think you'll enjoy. It has the gore, the story, and the nostalgia of Halloween night. What's great about this movie is it runs in multiple parts as different stories, so you can put it on repeat and people can pick up difference parts as they move through the party.

Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein (of course!), Nosferatu, Cabinet of Dr. Calgari, Rocky Horror... all with the sound muted.

We decorate the house with spider webbing, Halloween decorations, change out light bulbs for colored party bulbs, black lights, scary music playing in the background. Setup the Potluck Supper as buffet style with cold drinks at the end. Scary movies playing in one room, cards & games in another room. Kids tend to hang around down in the basement with activities. Outside we have tea light candles in quart sized glass mason jars hanging from the trees, that align both sides of a winding gravel road. Across the way there is a haunted maze in a nearby Quanza metal domed machine shed (37x82x25).
