Has anyone ever done these before? I would like to make my own and color them black and orange, but have no idea if I have lost my mind, or if this is a wise idea![]()

I wonder if you could take store bought chips and mist them with colored water, then bake them to make them crispy again? It'd be really easy to try- just mist a handful, throw them in the oven, and if they taste ok, you know your answer

It might be easier to mix blue corn chips and Doritos, but I think morgueanna's idea is the best. Depending on how wet you get them, I'd leave them in the oven on keep warm/200°F or less and leave them in there for a LONG time until you know they're dry. Unless you want them all to be green in the end

Also, use distilled water.

You can buy orange and black tortilla chips already made. Saw them last week at World Market. I know you said homemade but it seems like a lot of trouble. Just a thought...

I have made homemade tortilla chips before & they are pretty easy to make.....just cut up the soft tortillas into wedges & bake till crispy. Keep an eye on them as they burn quick!!
As for coloring them, that I don't know unless you made the tortillas handmade yourself & then colored the dough.I didn't make him for you!... He carries the Charles Atlas seal of approval.
It's not easy having a good time! Even smiling makes my face ache!

i made my own last year, i cut them out of tortilla shells with halloween cookie cutters. Then i sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on them and put them out with homemade caramel dip. Everyone really liked them.

Hmmm... thinking I am going to look for those pre-made, pre-colored ones! =)

I have done this with Spinach(green) and Tomato basil (red/orange) wraps. You can use wheat for brown and corn for yellow if your looking for leaf colors. They lose some color from frying/backing but they were awesome! Especially if you use cookie cutters. I have pictures etc on my blog under wicKED Recipes.
Something wicKED this way comes....

I have seen the colored ones at World Market too. I have made my own but never colored. Just used cookie cutters to cut Halloween shapes out of tortillas & baked.
