Hi guys. I just wanted to pick some brains (brainsss!) about some of the finer details of my party. I'm having issues figuring out the details.

Firstly, I'm hosting a pumpkin carving session prior to the actual party. Some colleagues are bringing their kids to this part. I was intending to host it outside under a gazebo, but here's the issue - our landlord is pretty rubbish, and the shed out back has been falling down pretty much since we moved. I'm worried about people, particularly kids, being around the shed as I'm concerned it might be dangerous. However my partner says it's not dangerous and it'll be fine. But the tiles fall off on a regular basis and I'm just imagining what'll happen if one of them hits one of the kids on the head

Also I've never done a kids' biy before the adults' bit and I'm freaking out about how/when I should prepare the food. Obviously it needs to be ready before/just as guests start arriving but if there are kids running about and stuff I can't really have the oven on and also if I'm busy playing host I might not have time to make the food...argh!

I also can't figure out how to award prizes for my games. One is pass the pumpkin with no hands and as a team will be winning, i can't give prizes to everyone1 another one is halowe'en who am i, but I don't know how to judge an overall winner aside from setting a stopwatch which would be a bit..pressurised.

Sorry for the lousy spelling, i'm typing in the dark!

    Hi Lea32R!
If you have a tarp or some extra plastic tablecloths laying around, maybe you could throw it over the roof of the shed in question, and staple or nail it down to contain any loose tiles?
As for the food prep - I'm not sure what you were planning to make but if it would work in a crock pot then you could have it ready ahead of time and not have to fuss with it during the party. Also it would be out of the way of the little ones and there would be no safety issues.
For the pass the pumpkin game - you could divide your guests into 2 teams who line up facing eachother. Each team passes their own pumpkin. The first team to drop their pumpkin is out and the other team members each get a small prize. Or to reduce to fewer prizes you could split the remaining team in half and go again.
For the 'who am i' game - instead of basing the winner on the fastest (pressure) to guess their identity, how about have your guests keep track of the number of yes or no questions they ask. The person who answers with the least (well thought out) questions is the winner. This could actually be the last person to guess as long as they used their questions wisely.
    Have fun!
