    Hi guys!!
Nice to be back for my second year on this forum.
Planning to have a slasher/horror movie theme but could do with some help & ideas off anyone who's maybe done it before? I searched on here but couldn't find a thread on it.

Our house is v small and has lounge on entry -small modern White kitchen (thinking lots of blood & tools) then our dining room (torture chamber Inc table with full edible body)
    Bathroom - pyscho scene etc

Not sure what to do with the lounge tho??

    Thanks!

My first thought when reading this was the Vacancy movie (Or if your more traditional, Psycho.)
Since the lounge is an entry, I would use it as exactly that..An entry. You can have it set up like a Motel entry lobby....An old cheesy one, of course...Have a desk set up against the far wall, with the bell and a clipboard....Find some horrible old pieces of art to put on the wall complete with the big ugly gold frames (Available at garage sales and flea markets.) (Hung just slightly askew as if there was a bit of a scuffle)
Make an artistically kickin sign with the name of your "Motel" on it to hang on the wall....(To take it further, you can make a really big sign out of wood or metal and put on your roof as well)
Have a peg board set up on the wall with a bunch of old keys on it for the invididual rooms.Only one key missing....To take it further, pipe some terribly cheesy old Hotel/elevator music in (make a CD with clips found online..make sure they are old clips that sound tinny and...well..old..) and put it in a cd player that's hidden....Gold and pea soup green are awesome colors to use when going for that cheesy 70's motif....you probably don't want to paint your walls, but if you can get your hands on some old plywood sheets, you can measure them out to your wall length, cut them and paint them (that horrible old green color) them, then just set them against your existing walls..add some ugly gold decorative features.. You could also hang paper sheeting over the walls, but then you have the seams...Then blood splatter..Not crazy gory, just some well placed splatter over a wall, over the keys, maybe some on the desk, etc....My fiance has those old long flourescent metal light fixtures hanging in our barn..you know the type..they make that creepy buzzy noise and the lights never stay lit..they kind of..flicker?? Perfect accessory for the old Motel lobby....you can suspend one of these from the ceiling...just plug into a socket or better yet, run an extension cord..I believe if you loosen the bulb a bit you can achieve that flickering light look (I think.) Then add a creepy motel clerk prop behind the counter, (Or just a pair of legs and feet sticking out from behind the counter, laying on the floor.....) Viola! Entryway complete.

    Hi Jen -

Thanks SO much for all that! What a faabulous idea! We could move the tv out the way and have the desk on the back wall. Our lounge might be a little too posh but with some well placed props like you suggested (and some paper covering the sparkly wallpaper!) it should work pretty well.

Ooooo, mega excited now! So much for me taking it easy and keeping it simple this year, hahaha.

Great! Glad you liked it...If your area is fancy, you could also go with more of a 1408 theme....Fancy hotel look..manequins dresed as bell hops...Put "skeleton" guests sitting on the couch, eerie classical music, etc...a door off the room with a 1408 plaque room number on it...I love Hotel/Motel themes..there have been so many great spook movies done around hotels that there is lots of inspiration to draw from....When your done, take pics and post!!! Have a blast...!!

I was wondering, from such a good idea in the lounge, what I should do with the kitchen? I't's modern, white and fairly small. you walk through the lounge into the kitchen (there is a door) Had thought about a kind of butcher's area with meat cleavers and tools hanging down and the surfaces covered in bloody sheets etc. I wanted the theme to kind of flow better - hubby thought of making the lounge into a Morgue room instead (similar setup to the hotel) but we don't have any coffins so I don't know. From the lounge will be the conservatory/dining area - and we were going to use this as a torture room, with shackles on our brick walls and heads hanging from the ceiling. Our main food area will be in here on a bench (it's my studio and not an actual dining room) and we wanted to do a full sized (or half a torso) dead person with the food making up the body. Some chairs will be in there with straps and blood over them.

Can you think of something that flows with this theme?

    thanks!
