I have never thrown a Halloween party and I am having an informal buffet on my driveway on Devil's night. I thought I would state on the invitations that children were welcome to attend in their Halloween costumes (if they liked). I would like to give a small gift to all the children who come but I don't have a clue as to what that should be. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

dollar store has lots of stuff - pencils, scary google eyes, candy (make a little treat bags maybe).... all sorts of stuff.

I have never had a Halloween party either but I do put together a special treat bag for the neighborhood kids that we know. You could do something like that. I know I have seen lots of packages with rubber spiders, skeleton hands and things like that. You could fill a treat bag with a couple pieces of candy, some Halloween stickers or fake tattoos (I know I've seen Halloween ones somewhere) and a few rubber items.

Oriental Trading is my go-to on party prizes and candy bags for kids. They've got a lot of choices - if you pick carefully you can get something that isn't junky, and the only return I've ever had to do was processed with no problem.

I think bags with candy and other items is always a good way to go. I also put in them certificates from McDonald's, they are 12 for $1, they are good for fries, burger, apple slices etc.

I had a huge party last year(@ 100 kids+parents), and CVS & Walgreens gets rid of their summer stuff now at 75% off. I got over 100 pieces of toys, water guns, etc (even socks! my kids were mortified-I thought it was hysterical) for @ $65. I had a scavenger hunt around the yard with clues, and the kids were divided into teams. The team to win first to get all the items for scavenger hunt got to pick at the pile of prizes first.
BTW-the moms loved the socks (for school!)
