Like all on this forum, I LOVE Halloween. Every year my husband and I host a Halloween party for a few friends of ours. Not a lot of people besides the 5 in my family and 5-7 other people. But even though we only invite a few people, I go all out! This is the first year we are in a new house on 3 acres of property. I have a wonderful yard and house to decorate with no HOA restrictions. I feel it would be a shame to waste this lovely space by not using it for our party. I have came to the decision that I would love to do a haunted trail. I will not have helper to scare the bajezzus out of my guest, no animatronics, Just a few ghost and eyes and things of that sort. I am depending on just the creepiness that the property exudes at night will be enough to evoke the chills. My issue is this........snakes.......raccoons
.....how to I keep them off the trail? I am in central Florida and snakes just come with the territory. Any thoughts or ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated. I will walk my property after the rain passes to take pictures and post them where you have a better idea of what I am working with here

Contact Animal control officers and ask for fur and sent spray from preditors. Spray this afound you space for the trail and this should repell the racoons and deer and other critters. As for snakes, let them be. They will add to the haunt.
Eventhough I am Dead it is always warm inside my bed.

I am assuming that you are worried about venomous snakes and nut just garden snakes. I live in Oregon where this isn't really an issue but I could see how this would be an issue. I can't image your raccoons are THAT aggressive, it seems to me that city raccoons are more mean than the country coons. When I was a kid we went on a boat trip in a VERY heavily populated rattle snake area (we saw probably more than 10 a day in the hot DAYLIGHT). The BLM had some camping spots along the river where they sprinkled snake repellent pellets every year and we never saw any in those areas, where as the non BLM spots, we couldn't even get up at night to pee. I would check into these pellets and see if you could just sprinkle some on the trail. Good luck!

Also, if you make a path out of pourus lava rock I think they won't cross it but I think that could get expensive.

snake pellets! MY GOODNESS! I have never heard of such a thing but you better believe I am hunting those down! And yes venomous is an issue but all snakes can leave my yard! I am petrified of snakes have been all my life, well at least since I was 4 and one chased me through the yard! As for the raccoons.....I live in the country, and they are real gangly lookin mofos, but I think if they hear us ramblin around they will leave us alone

Actually now that I've looked it up you need to check the kind of snakes in your area. The website for "snake-a-way" says it's 91% effective for pacific rattle snakes but it varies by type of snake and would appear to be less effective on copperheads.
