I've mentioned my oldest monster is turning 13 near halloween and we're doing a halloween party.
well, my kitchen is TEENY and i have a round kitchen table. I want a rectangle table to set up a buffet style service for snacks and what not.
but a new table is not in the budget. in fact, i have no budget for this. None of my friends have a table i could use (was thinking like one of those collapsible conference tables). So ive been sitting here, pondering over it for the last few weeks of what in the world that i already HAVE that i could use...
then it came to me.
the bunk beds.
no, not the beds themselves, but the top bunk has a piece of heavy plywood under it for support.
see where I'm going with this? Take the plywood and put it on top of the table, give the ends a little support with some of the 1500 empty cat litter buckets I have back in the shed - put a tablecloth over it ...and... wa-la! Insta long table!
So now i need to see if yall have any reasonable objections to why this wouldnt work, cause in my mind, it works perfectly LOL

The round table you have - might want to cover it with a cloth so the plywood won't scratch it or damage it.
If you want support more sturdy that won't have the potential to fall/tip over, maybe build a "dead man" like is used in hanging drywall. Basically build a "T" out of wood then just screw thru the plywood from the top to secure it. Later, unscrew & put back the way it was - since there will be a mattress covering the plywood, you won't see the screw-holes.

LOL on the scratches.....I thought of the "dead man" as I was worried the buckets wouldn't hold & there goes all the food!

My solution when I need a long table is to use saw horses. I have 2 of the plastic folding type, and use a sheet of ply for the table top. No worries about scratches and both ends are supported adequately, if the saw horses are positioned right

Make sure the supports are as close to the 4 corners as possible so there can't be any cantilever weight that makes the whole thing flip. Use some of that non-skid shelf liner under it so the board can't slide around either. Otherwise sounds fine to me just as long as you don't have too much overhang. And yeah, filling the buckets with water to weigh them a little might work good too. Might want to have more than 1 stack per corner for extra support if the weight seems heavy so they don't collapse.
