I have Googled all I can Google, and I'm getting a headache! So I decided to come here and ask all of you.

I'm wondering where I should go for Halloween this year. I think me and the husband have decided to go to the Ren Fest either Saturday or Sunday (I'm around Houston), but I want to know if there's anything else we'd be interested in.

I'm not into drinking and dancing (them days are over ), which seems to be what the majority of these Halloween events are centered around. I'm not into the whole drunken college kids dancing all over each other in cheapy Leg Avenue costumes, and that seems to be what happens at these places.

Anyone know of anywhere that is actually fun and not a drinking/dance fest? I don't really know what I'm expecting since that's the only thing that people do for fun anymore. The Ren Fest is the closest I could think of that would have more to do than just drinking. I'm not interested in places that are family- or kid-oriented (although many kids are at Ren Fest, it's not specifically for them). I guess maybe I'm looking for something a little more "sophisticated," if there is such a Halloween happening. Like a ballroom kind of thing? Maybe even some kind of semi-public house party you pay to get into or something?

I'm also open to taking a weekend trip to Austin or San Antonio if one of them will have something interesting. I've heard of Halloween on 6th Street in Austin, but it just seems like a lot of walking around on crowded streets with more drunken people to annoy me, haha. I'm having a hard time getting into the Halloween spirit this year (it's very late for me, usually I start planning on November 1st ) and don't know what to do.

Thanks for any suggestions, I appreciate it!

I'm in for this too...been looking around to find somethings to do for my week off. There is the sweet berry farm in marble falls where you can go pick pumpkins, do a kids maze and stuff your own scarecrow. Good fun for the family! I go there every year with my little one.

I would just hit a whole bunch of cool haunted houses. I always wish I had more time to go to more of those.

6th street is a zoo for Halloween! A really crowded zoo. I'm glad I went one year, but that was enough for me. You litterally can't walk anywhere which makes the night not so fun.

Not sure if the Zombie Ball is happening again this year. I didn't make it last year, so I'm not sure what it was like. http://www.zombieball.com/index.php

Scare for the Cure always puts on an amazing interactive haunt. I'm toying with the idea of volunteering this year. http://www.scareforacure.org/

House of Torment is cool if you have never been, but they really don't change up much each year so it's not worth repeating. http://thehouseoftorment.com/
