How soon do you guys send out your invitations? Do you send a 'don't forget the date' pre-invite? I was thinking about making a DVD for the actual invite, but don't want it to get put up and forgotten about before the party? Do you send out reminder invites?
    Thanks friends!

If you already making a DVD for the invite. Why not use like a 10 second teaser trailer with the date and email them out? Mine usually go out 5-6 weeks in advance but because I know that's REALLY early for most non-wedding events I send out a reminder about 2 weeks out, 1 week out, and the day before. Hope that helps.

We don't do pre-invites but as BewitchingHalloween said, we do a FB event invite about two weeks before or just after our RSVP date to get those last few responces who might have forgotten.
Although being in Australia, I don't really have to worry about competing parties so if that is a concern for you, a small teaser as star_girl_mag said could give you the edge over the other parties.

In my opinion, getting people interested in your party ahead of time and reminding them is a wonderful idea. I am already sending out a Save the Date video later this week to be followed by the official invite about a month out from the big party. We are in the double digits now....so I don't think it's too soon!

i suggest you send them 3 weeks before the party. for me it's the safest because people would've already been "booked" on certain weekends a week or 2 before your planned event.

I only send FB invites (as everyone I invite is on there lol) and I usually send them out 4-5 weeks before the party. I really like the idea of sending out save the dates though. Love the video idea! How did you do it, Whispers?

I just start telling people about my party and when it is (if they haven't already started asking me) a few months ahead of time, and then remind them about it whenever I talk to them! I do make a facebook event and invite people that way but I usually only do that a few weeks before the party so people don't forget about it.

    MissMandy,

I is actually very easy the way I did that one..just use Windows Movie Maker (Free) and any track or I used Audacity (also Free) to trim a song to what I needed. You just paste in the video or images that you want along with a soundtrack..all sorts of effects already in the program....hope that helps.
