Last year I had a very successful dinner party and served pasta with breadsticks and lots of autumn appetizers. We moved to Denver this year (a much bigger city) and now we live in a little apartment. We also haven't made any new friends yet. I know it is months away, but I am starting to feel discouraged about missing out on throwing my annual Halloween party. Luckily,my husband's family and all of his little cousins live here so we might have a few guest. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can cheer myself up?

Welcome to Denver!! Where did you move from? If you haven't already I think you will really start to love Denver. Plus we have a beautiful fall!! In recent years stores have finally gotten on board with Halloween - we had 4 different Halloween stores crop up all over town last year. (Spirit, Cow Halloween...shoot I can't remember the other two).
Its always hard when you changes spaces for your party but maybe it will be inspiration for new ideas!! You could always invite your floor at the apartment to your party - decorate your door and put a sign up inviting everyone, then you could get to know your neighbors and maybe make some friends all in the same go. I don't know if that would appeal to you though as it looks like you enjoy a dinner party type event rather than a drop in party but its worth a try!!As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish, I wish he'd go away.

That would be hard! I think it would be a great opportunity to meet new people who love Autumn/Halloween in your area! Maybe (like Witchful Thinking said) inviting co-workers or neighbors to a meet and greet or open house kind of thing would help. You could do that earlier in the month and then invite a few people to the dinner party. I dunno!
Before I met new people in our area, I had a little family party that was really fun! And since they're family, you can force them to do whatever you want

see if others would join in and have one big parking lot party or something...kind of an apartment version of a block party
"We accommodate the living, but who shall accommodate the dead?"
"We say haunted, but we mean the house has gone insane."

I agree with the others, don't let the changes turn your Halloween spirit down!
I've changed plenty of cities and everywhere I went I always celebrated Halloween! Also convincing people who had never celebrated it before...

Thanks for all of the great ideas! After surfing the forum today, I think I am going to do a witches themed party. Both men and women will be invited, but I am going to serve witch themed food and have witch decorations. Since I don't know many people, I might just have an open house type of party instead of set times. I have already found some great ideas on here (bathroom decorations, food, etc...), but any other ideas are greatly appreciated. I love pictures!
