My husband and I always have Christmas parties and ask people to bring a unwrapped toy to donate to the Toys For Tots and it works out great. This year will be our first Halloween party and we are going to ask each guest to bring one non perishable food item such as a canned food, box food, etc. We want to donate them to the homeless shelter here. Do you think this would work well with our Halloween party?

Last year I did the same for the first time. I got about 4 boxes of food.
I also placed a sign on the fence I put up for my graveyard asking to bring can goods Halloween night. It was a success for being the first year. I ended up donating 2 shopping carts full of food.
What I did, on Halloween night, I had the people who brought food place their donation in front of my garage where inside I had the main attraction. My thought was that the guest will see the food and hopefully remember to bring something this year. It was pretty cool seeing the food sitting there. It was like gifts to the Halloween spirits.

I have done the food collection the past few years and it worked out well, not to mention that the food pantry's are Very Bare right now!!
Man cannot live on bread alone.... (unless he is in a cage and that is all you feed him.)

I think that's a fantastic (and generous) idea!
Are you putting the request on the invitation? Is it Halloween yet?
