I have searched the forum and found some ideas for my Poe themed party this year but still needing imore. Would love any suggestions for decorations, food, costumes, etc. I am thinking I will have a graveyard at the side of the house too. I want to create a Victorian/Goth feel to the place.

I know I want ravens, black cats, antique pictures, black and cream colored curtains and table cloths, needing good ideas for decorating, etc.

If you searched the forum, you've probably already seen this thread from last year: Edgar Allan Poe theme party

You HAVE to do a walled up room as in "The Cask of Amontillado"

If you've got a room you want to block off from the part, then get a large piece of foamcore, carve it to look like stones/bricks and mortar, and have a top section open like there are still a few more bricks to place. You can have a dummy/figure behind it, maybe reaching over like it's trying to get out and even have a sound track (take some lines from the story and loop them)...

My mother has a picture of me somewhere as a kid, probably from some Christmas a million years ago, where I am in my pjs peeking over a foam packing piece saying that.

Alan Parsons Project has an album called Tales of Mystery and Imagination. have that looping in the living room. in the othe rooms, have heartbeats looping in evey other room. Party City has dungeon scene setters. gotta have cobwebs. on the front lawn, place tombstones. Make an audio loop with a young girl knocking, scratching screaming, and calling for help. you can do fog with dry ice and water. put the audio in a coffin. my bro in law made a cofin cooler with plywood styrofoam, and black paint, and hinges.

the CD is the works of Poe put to song. the referenes are Telltale Heart and Fall of the House of Usher. Idk if this is Poe or not, but my sister got a life size plastic cauldron and put ice in it as a cooler.

Inn the yard, have tombstones with names of people he knew and characters from his stories. Use his bio a a reference.
