Hi all! This is my first post this year and just logging on over the last couple of days and lurking has gotten me all fired up for this year. I want to have a Face Your Fear type party but I am not sure if I should gear it as each room has a different theme or more like an asylum - ideally this would be a combo of both but then I am not sure how to decorate the rooms. We have a ton of clown stuff from our Carnevil theme last year so not sure what to do with those and a bunch of demented dolls and kids things - one idea for that was a children's ward in the asylum which could be creepy. I also wanted to incorporate spiders/bugs somehow since so many people are afraid of those. I know there is a lot of info here but here are the main questions I have and would love your creative ideas on!!

    1. Going off an asylum/phobia theme - do I make it look abandoned? This is for a party of about 50 people so the whole upstairs will be decorated and where people will hang out for food.
    2. Which leads me to the nibbles...what kind of food do you do for a phobia/asylum theme?
    3. Bathroom ideas - I have one bathroom on the main floor that guests will use - no tub so it's not a huge space...I was thinking this may be a good place to use the spiders, or maybe germaphobia and have it look dirty with roaches or something?
    4. Last - good costume ideas...I am terrified of spiders myself so thought I could do something like that but since we will somehow be the asylum I thought I could maybe be a crazed patient and hubbie could be a demented DR...if there is any way to play it in I will be about 7 months pregnant by the time of the party.

Thanks all for helping me rein this in - you all are so clever and creative so hopefully you can give me some ideas!!

Oh, one other thing...we do have an unfinished basement so was thinking that could either be a padded room or morgue of some sort. That leads out to the backyard so I was thinking a cemetary with just patient numbers on it or something along those lines...

I like the clown room idea - I hate clowns...search the forum and you'll find other inspiration for circus themed rooms.

    Good luck!!
    Is it Halloween yet?
