I have a Halloween party for my kids every year. This year will be the first time I have a haunted trail with the fairy tale theme. My question is this: I have access to unlimited numbers of boxes in all sizes. What can I make with them that would go with the theme of my mini haunt? I would love to be able to make some really cool props.

What about painting them to look like castle wall bricks, uses are unlimited with them. Most fairy tales seem to have castles so you could make 3 sided rooms from a castle and have a scene within each room. You could just build an entrance to go through with the stones.Tunnels and bridges, like obcessedwithit said, that would be great. I love the gingerbread house idea too. Your haunt sounds like it will be great.

I like the idea of the stone entrance and castle walls. Maybe I can make it like the castle crumbled? I don't have as much time as I would like to make a whole wall, so maybe a piece of a wall that's falling down. lol How would I incorporate a tunnel into a fairy tale? I like the idea, but not sure how to make it flow. I already have a gingerbread house...it's my kids old playhouse that sits near the trail. I'm going to just decorate it with cardboard candies.

Okay, let's see if what I'm imagining will make sense in words!
What about a secret doorway to an enchanted waterfall? I'm thinking if you have one really big box (like a refridgerator box), you cut out one side and paint the inside with a glittery waterfall scene, and place a mini stereo somewhere around with some waterfall sounds. If you don't have a box big enough, you could break some smaller ones down and create 3 walls from the flattened boxes.
Then, take some of the others and stack them up as a doorway and paint them with vines and hang some viney-type stuff that they would have to walk through to access the "enchanted waterfall". From there you could put anything you want in there - good or evil faeries (statuettes), magic fish, a special wizard who gives them a code to crack or a special prize for finding the waterfall... the possibilities are endless!
Hope that actually made sense! haha Love the idea. I hope we'll see some pics!

Wow. Slow start, but interesting concept once you walk into the pages of the book(which I love that idea). I would have a pied piper as your guide to lead the children through the entire thing. Love the twisted signs. Some nice classics, but would think of adding in Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc.
