Great idea I'm gonna go with the box and fill it with the most embarrassing outfits etc I can find. Thanks guys it's great to be here and have been made to feel really welcome. Much appreciated.

Yeah, I'm with Highball and Demon Dog. I warn my guests that a costume is mandatory and if they come without, one shall be provided for them. Of course, most of my friends are really into dressing up so it is rarely an issue. However, since we belong to a pirate reenactment group, I also specify that they can't take the easy way out and come as pirates, either.
