Year 5 for our Halloween party at the house and I am already getting in the spirit! I have a theme idea I wanted to do this year, but not sure. So I wanted to get your opinions. I keep visioning a spooky phobia theme. With each room in the house being a different phobia, such as, clowns, snakes/spiders...yadda yadda yadda. However, I have a low of severed heads, skeletons (cheap ones I put clothes on) random body parts. I have nothing in the effect of what I want. So would it be easier to just nix the idea or can you brilliant folks help me out with some cool ideas? I have plenty of time to make but no extra money to spend.

Do you guys stick with a theme throughout the house or do you change it per room?

I do an outdoor haunt but even outsie i have different themes such as clown area and graveyard and butcher shop torure area zombie zone and what not. Some people like to stick to one thing like pirate gaunt or zombie infestation but go with how you feel.To me, i feel limited with one theme so i do multiple!

phobia for a theme is pretty cool maybe having a spider phobia in one and maybe like bloody massacre in the bathroom or something lik ea hand comes up from the drain or anything! be creative and itll come!

I think a phobia theme would be a great idea. Since there is a phobia for almost anything you can think of, it should be easy to find things either free or very inexpensively that would work really well. http://phobialist.com/ has a list of phobias, and you can keep an eye out at garage sales and local thrift stores or flyers for really cool props.

Phobia theme? Genius! I look forward to seeing the pics. But planning doesn't start now. I learned that lesson last year. I already had this year's theme in my head, even before those dirtbags stole much of our display. Today, I bought a 9 foot tall "silk" palm tree for Club Dead. Let's see the thieves drag that away!

Oh! I have this little book that lists phobias. Noctiphobia-fear of the night. I don't guess that's one that any of us here have, eh?

As mentioned above, Goodwill, or any of your local thrift stores, may be treasure troves of decorations and ideas. Also garage sales and curb diving are good sources too.

You may also want to review the Forum's Social Group section for groups that may be of interest.

I did this Theme a couple of years ago we did 'Face Your Fears'
I had 13 displays and you had to match them up with the Phobia.

Some Great costumes! I was in a coffin - fear of being buried alive, my Husband was in a Prison Jump suit - fear of being Wrongfully convicted.
We had a lot of Clowns, one cousin came with his newly moved in girlfriend - she was 'pregnant' (costume) he had a baby sling with two kids in it.
My husbands Aunt was her childhood dentist - however he had big busy eyebrows and she plucks hers down to nothing - so I don't think it was fear of dentists I think it was her fear of his eyebrows.
My sister was a Mime - fear of not being able to talk. Her husband was a 'French Person' fear of my sister making him go to France - he wore a barrie carried a loaf of french bread and bottle of wine and was able to smoke all night.
One girl was 'an Old Maid' - One Girl was a China Doll.

My Nephew was dressed as My Brother "Fear of turning out like your Dad?" "No, just scared of him"

Can't remember any more right now, but you can come up with some really good costumes!

    Fun Theme!
Man cannot live on bread alone.... (unless he is in a cage and that is all you feed him.)
