Hello all! Stayed home sick from work today, and got back on the forum. Now I can't stop thinking about this year's party!
However, things will be different this year, as we are expecting a baby in late July. Baby will be about three months old by the time Halloween arrives, so I'm not too concerned with at least having a small dinner party. I also don't want to have to plan anything too elaborate (like a murder mystery), due to working full-time and taking care of a new infant!
The plan is to go all Martha Stewart on my guests when it comes to food/drinks/decor and decorate in the classic haunted mansion theme.
But, I don't want it to seem boring, or like a normal dinner party (which is always fun, but I want this to be super special), especially because these friends have been to our previous parties and know they're epic.
I'm thinking of possibly having two to four of the friends become zombies and attack the house in the middle of dinner. I know of a few who would have no problem doing it!
Also, I'm thinking of hiring a fortune teller/tarot card reader of some sort.
Anything else that will spice this up a bit? I'm not looking for ultra-cheesy Halloween games or anything. Just something cool.
Thanks!!

HOLY CRAP I wish we were friends because that sounds like a ton of fun! I really like the idea of the Tarot card reader being there and you can't go wrong with Zombies in my opinon.
"The plan is to go all Martha Stewart on my guests" LOL the mental image I'm getting from this statement is freaking awesome!

Monroe, that sound like my kind of party. I actually did take some ideas from Martha and over the last year found some cheap vaseline glass serving dishes on Ebay, I had a rule not to spend more than $15 on each piece, including shipping. I changed the dining rooms light bulbs to the compact fluorescent black lights and it really made the table pop. You can't see it too well on my photos as the flash dimmed the fluorescence, but they glow a bright green under black light. Served gin and tonic (tonic glows blue under black light). The result looked pretty nice, and you could do this for a dinner or a buffet. Good luck with your planning.

that sound really cool. I am thinking on Witche's Tea. But I have not made up a list how I want to do this yet.

Oh, the witch parties are a blast. It's fun seeing everyone's take on a witch costume.

Consider featuring a selection of Vampire wines and give all your guests a pair of fangs at the dinner table or in a basket on the buffet (great as napkin holders!)
I found the website of all the wine selection and a fun story line as well...
