Akhenaten (Ah' ka na' ten) was Pharaoh of Egypt during the 18th dynasty. Little was known about him up until excavations at Amarna were discovered. Akhenaten's physical depiction and statue (among other things) was radically different from all the other pharaohs....and some are speculating that King Akhenaten could have been a celestial being?

I do not know, but I found the documentary very interesting. It also covers the experiences of other cultures like Hopi Indians, and an African tribe called the Dogon. If you are interested, you can check it out on History Channel, it's called "Ancient Aliens - The Vistors."

    Here is a clip...

I've seen lots of episodes based on Aliens and haunting's. They always are very interesting to watch. I believe you can actually order them on DVD.

This was a good show and this is one of my favorite topics. I have always believed we are people with a lost history and the only proof we need of that is the bible or original text. But I won't get into my rant on that or I post a ten page post..

I've watched the show and do enjoy it. But you have to keep in mind while watching that these views are slanted and gear to drive the viewer toward their opinion. They don't often bring up people with a difference (or sometimes the RIGHT) opinion.

Case in point, I have heard, countless times, about the Biblical story of the exodus from Egypt. Each time the 'Ufologist' sight this part of the story:

"But God led the people round by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle. And Moses took the bones of Joseph [see Coat Of Many Colors] with him; for Joseph had solemnly sworn the people of Israel, saying, "God will visit you; then you must carry my bones with you from here." And they moved on from Succoth, and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the wilderness. And The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night; the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people." (Exodus 13:18-22 RSV)

Ufologists are quick to claim, "What else could this be? A glowing Pillar of Fire.. a cigar shaped UFO!" Really, I have heard this argument time and time again. It wasn't until I was watching a COMPLETELY unrelated show that I came across the real answer for these 'Pillars'

The Military Historian, speaking of Moses, explained that it was common Roman practice of the time that, when leading large numbers of men, they would light a fire (Pillar) at the front of the line by night and have smoldering embers of smoke (pillar) by day. This way it would keep hundreds of soldiers marching in the same direction giving them a point to follow and not zig-zagging in the ranks. He said that is was a Tactic Moses would have known and probably incorporated while leading the Israelites out of Egypt.

Of all the Ufology shows I have watched about these Pillars .. never did they once begin up that possibility. It took some channel surfing on a Military Program to find it.

The biggest problem I have with that show is the disregard for the intellect of ancient man. They make it sound like they could never have developed their own mythologies, or ever had any ideas of their own, or could never have built anything on their own, etc., it was all given to them by aliens.

To add to that .. I think people put a modern day mentality is put into something and make it out to be more than it actually was/is. For instance, that "Bagdad Battery" .. we look at it with our modern minds and say "Wow this is a battery!" maybe it was just a cool looking pot that had a funny side effect when you added the correct things to it.
