Default My expierence

When my family first moved to the area they are in now we moved into a really small town. The towns population is less then 150 and is mainly a farming community now. No gas stations, grocery stores, hotels,etc... The only thing in this town is a SMALL school, last years graduating class was 12 people, a small feed store and a cotton gin.

Back in 1911 (not certain) there was 13 retail stores, several hotels, etc.. There was a fire in 1911 that burned down the entire town just about every building was lost.

Well when we moved there in 2000 we moved into a OLD 3 bedroom house, this was the only house still up after the fire. It was very old and wasnt in the greatest shape and very small. When you walk in the front door you are in the living room, to the right is was a door way to my room. Once you walk in my room was a door way to the right that led to my 2 brothers room. This was the only way in and out of their room.

One night as I was laying I was awakened by sounds that I can only describe as "children whispering in my ear". I also felt like someone was stradleing me and sitting on my stomach and covering my mouth. I tried yelling and getting up but could not move and my voice was muffled. It ended shortly and I got up and stayed in the living room for the night and several nights after that.

My parents started asking why I was sleeping in the living room, and after several times finally told them what happened. As I was explaining to them my story they would look at each other. Finally they told me their story.

They told me that one night while I was out and my bros were with friends, they were sitting in the living room watching tv. My door was open and the light was on,which it usualy was. They heard a noise come from my room and when they looked towards my room they saw a "figure" walk from my room to the door way in my brothers.

Shortly after this story I moved out into a apt with my now wife. My parents moved out shortly after that to my grandma's house to help take care of her. Family bought the house from us and eventually burned down the house and put another house in its place. I have not been to their house or do I want to. Every time I go by it I get a extremely creepy feeling.

Hey Grimey,

Just wanted to give you a little insight on what may have happened.

During sleep, a person undergoes 5 stages of the Sleep Cycle; Stages 1, 2, 3, 4, and REM.

Stages 1 through 4, your body may have some movement. You do not dream during these stages. During REM sleep, however, you do dream. During the REM stage of sleeping, the body is essentially paralyzed. You can not move your body during REM sleep. There isn't a definite reason for this, but many tend to believe that your body is paralyzed during this stage so that you do not hurt yourself during your dreams. IE, if you were running in your dream, you may hurt yourself if your body starts to shake, and your legs start to move as if you were running. People who wake up during the REM stage often do not have the ability to move their body for a period of time due to this paralysis. People have reported the feeling of being suffocated, having someone sitting on them or holding them down, etc.

Now, I'm not saying that you did experience this, and that your experience isn't paranormal. You could have experienced this sleep paralysis - or you could have experienced some sort of paranormal activity. I just wanted to offer an answer as to why this may have occurred.

Best of luck!

I've had this happen, but thank goodness only once. But I just couldn't move, (personally) I didn't feel as though I was being held down or anything.
