Default The Jersey Devil Thread

One of my favorite - and relatively local cryptid - is the Jersey Devil. I thought I would start a thread to discuss the creature and its history, as well as generate any discussion about sighting of the animal over in the Pine Barrens.

Ooo,

For some reason, this one has always fascinated me way out here in Utah. Definately one of my favorite cryptids.

Everytime I would drive through the Pine Barrens on the way to LBI I would look for the Devil.
Never saw it though. Would definately hate to get lost in the Barrens.

I believe it was Monsterquest that just did a episode on the Jersey Devil. Overall it was a lame episode (having grew up in the area). They had a group of people form a line to try and flush the creature out with watchers in the trees to spot any activity. They did this in broad daylight--yeah, like any jersey devil story happened in the day?! Some eye witness stories, a mother and son. So scared to death, they still live in the same house years later (passed lie detector tests). I'm sorry but if I see a monster I either 1) get the heck out of there or 2) I'm going monster hunting til I get the thing

Fortunately, I still love the stories and folklore of it all. I even have a small pine forest in TN that I call the pine barrens because it is so similar! There is a Jersey devil "hunt" you can go on in the pine barrens--Not to expensive, given by some local curators over a few mile night walk--should be able to find on the internet if interested. I still want to do it!

Did you dig my monster on there? I was the sculptor of the JD re-creation.

Mike,
I LOVED your sculpture and felt that it added SO much to the story of what they saw in their yard. It was fantastic seeing you on there.
Must have been neat having them react to something you created.

I haven't seen this. It sounds like a pretty cool piece of work.
Any chance of a pic, Mike?
