i believe there was a moster - but not sure if it's still there now. I have a friend who lives near the shores - I'm planning to visit her - maybe she can give me some inside gossip

I have ambivalent opinions about the existence of the loch ness monster. No one has any proof that it exist, but if it isn't true, how come there's such a big buzz about it?
I believe that fiction is somehow based on facts.
However, my opinion is still open to debates.

Signor Francesco Gasparini –

An Italian journalist is making claims that he "invented" the Loch Ness Monster in 1933.

To quote from the article.."Signor Gasparini declared: “The monster of Loch Ness has never existed. I invented it. I admit it – but I am not sorry.”
Did signor Gasparini also invent the stories of strange creatures in the loch that date back to the year 500 AD? Did he also invent the video footage that has been taken, or the sonar "hits" that have been recorded?
Much of the "evidence" may be due to mistaken identity or hoaxes, after all the ecology of Loch Ness would make it highly improbable that it could support a viable breeding population of any large animals. Some sightings and photographic evidence (much of it by scientists and other reliable witnesses)cannot be so easily explained away.
One thing that is certain, however, is that this gentleman most certainly did not
invent "Nessie".

Agreed, Baron, agreed!
Here's a tidbit about Sweden and their monsters.
In spite of a local order banning cameras and underwater photography, the hunt continues for Sweden's legendary Great Lake Sea Monster (Storsjöodjuret) in the northern part of the country.
