I often do lectures in the town of Jim Thorpe PA.
I finally got an opportunity to tour the original 1871 jail where 4 men called the Molly Maguires were hanged.
The story goes that the 4 men were innocent.
One man to prove his innocence rubbed his hand on the dirty cell floor and placed his hand firmly on the wall.
He proclaimed that the hand print would remain forever on the cell wall for all to see and to prove his innocence.
I saw the hand print , it's really there, and it's eerie.
It is said that the whole jail is haunted.
So many visitors have experienced strange sightings, smells and ice cold areas that they compiled all of them in a book.
I noticed a very peculiar pungent smell while in the dungeon.

Fascinating story, Victoriana Lady. And very very eerie about the handprint. It sent shivers up my spine. My grandfather was born in PA, near Monongahela, and was a coal miner for a time, so the whole story of the Molly Maguires and the exploitation of workers hits close to home.

I just love the jail in Jim Thorpe!! I live only but a few minutes away. We were there before, and it was just an odd feeling you felt everywhere. Especially when we stood where the men were hung, and right outside of the cell where the hand print is.
Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees, "Tonight is Halloween!"

I am the shadow on the moon at night. Filling your dreams to the brim with fright!!
