Anybody watch 'Spooked: Ghosts of Waverly Hills Sanatorium' last night on SFi-Fi channel ?
It was a former tuberculosis (The White plague) treatment institution in Louisville that opened in the 20's I believe.
On the show it had alleged ghost sightings and numerous 'Orbs' among the other hauntings going on and around that land.
The whole show about that hospital is very creepy and all to real. 'gave me goose bumps' I also think there is a movie in the works and coming out soon. And I believe they give some tours to go through there too.
My question here: 'Anybody ever see or believe in Orbs'???... I thought this would be a great Topic Starter here among all Haunters here at the Forum.
If you got any pictures of something that looks like one of them 'ghostly circular balls' let's post um here and share. Even if you shot something with you're camera that was'nt there at the time and looks suspicious now - Hey!.. what's that glowing 'thango'mabob' behind Harry's head?? Add um right here.![]()
Here's my pic. of an 'Orb?' below- Some might say it is 'swamp gas' or just dust. And it could be just the glare from the above light's. It was snapped at a farmers market by my girlfriend when she went to buy our Halloween pumpkins a couple years back. I have a few more pic's too. And some don't have those translucent balls anywhere in the photo's...
I counted 4 up and down the (right side) in this pic.

I think orbs are usually just dust. I could be wrong, but the slightest bit of anything (like hair) in front of a camera lens can create some spectacular effects.

I do have a picture with an orb. I sent it in to a site that analyzes the photos (shadowlands.net) and here's the reply:
"The orbs in your photos do appear consistent with the kind of orbs we get on our investigations of haunted places. Orbs can be found everywhere so it doesn't mean there is a spirit present every time you see an orb in a photo.
Orbs are just energy and we just seem to find them in higher amounts and in conjunction with other readings and impressions when spirits are present.
Please feel free to email me again if you have any further questions or concerns."
Further communication indicated they are often seen where electric lines are. Where mine was in the photo was about where the underground lines from the pole run up to the house. Electrical energy, or spirits? Don't know, but it's interesting.

I enjoy that type of program and found the show very interesting.
There are a lot of things out there that aren't easily explained.
I like to keep an open mind on about everything.
Don't know if I would like to see the movie about the place.
Hollywood adds their own stuff to the mix.
I would rather see a true story on such places.
About orbs.
Several years ago I decided to stop at a small cemetary that was on my way home from work and take some pictures.
It had just gotten dark and it was very warm.
I saw hundreds of floating objects, which I still believe was just the pollen in the air.
Hunderds of floating objects and just 90 graves. hhhmmmm.
Anyhow my digital camera picked them up too.
So, I'm inclined to believe most of the pictures of orbs are just dust, pollen, or some other objects floating around in the air.
I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

Hmmmm; Personally, I've must have taken thousands of photo's in and around my home- 'so has my Mom' and I've never snapped 'not one' of those dust bunny's, hair, or 'pollen poltergeist' in my life. And my house is alway's brimming with those things!
I hear that using a digital camera is actually better at getting those things captured on camera. (Something that I don't own).. So maybe that and 'Right place & Right time) applys here...

I've also snapped thousands of photos in homes, churches, cemeteries, barns and numerous other places (between music, advertising, and Halloween, you take a lot of photos) and I've seen these exact same dust bubbles on hundreds of them.
It's dust, small pollens and tiny insects and floating bits of debris from the ceiling and so on.
I believe in the soul and that it is possible to see and be impacted by other souls around us, but dust in a photo, digital or otherwise, hardly comprises evidence for a spirit world.
I think one of the reasons one hears about digital photography being better able to 'capture those things' is because digital lenses capture finer details LIKE dust and floating debris far better than the average camera once did as used by most people... the result is that people think digital is somehow seeing phenomena we never saw before, when really it's just noticing for the first time that things are dustier than we thought.
