Thread: "T.A.P.S." .. Phoney?

Today my Wife was watching, listening to a You-Tube's offering of an interview with a woman who was on their crew , she discovered the phoney things they were doing to fake supernatural events.
How do any of the rest of you feel or think about this?
My question(s) are "Have any of the TAPS people ever really , personally had a supernatural experience?
IF they have, then I think such a fact may have a powerfully debilitating effect upon those people. I like to think faking such things, yet you knowing there are such things out there, because you have experienced them would cause immense guilt,more so than just faking something for the other reasons of money, "fame" as carried out by a person who has never experienced the awe of such a real incident.
Inversely, if none of them have ever really had such an experience, then they might be actual "Roaring" non-believers and huge liars and fakes, just to get a paycheck and the perk of having their faces and identity become a common household term.
Maybe I am just putting myself and my own experiences into an unrealistic scenario with the TAPS name on it?
I have also heard of ghost seekers who have been doing that for 25 years, who got very disgusted and definitely upset seeing TAPS doing their quick shows because real life ghosts , do not do such things like a actor in makeup on a stage on command to fit everyone's shooting schedule.
I hear real, common person's tell about their very personal ghost stories on a regular basis as they come to me to see my haunted house.
I have had a fair number of supernatural events happen to me. Some of them really got my attention! Some sort of scared me some. I have been trying to figure these things out, if possible, for many years now. I don't think we have really learned any such knowledge of these things yet.

Certainly there's a fair amount of scripting in all "reality" shows, and GH has had their fair share of controversy regarding allegations of chicanery. I don't know. It always seems to be a disgruntled ex employee, team member, etc., who "comes clean". I'm not sure that goes very far towards credibility, but I wasn't there, so I don't know. I record it and skip to the reveal(s) just to see what they caught, if anything. To be fair and balanced, there are a hell of a lot of episodes where they get nothing.

Jason claims to have started paranormal investigating because of an experience he had, but for some reason won't talk about. The show has strayed far from where it started, but what can you say since in the end TV is about ratings and $$$.

At least the guys at TAPS seem to be skeptics first. They don't dig "orbs" much, they're always trying to debunk things, but, in the end, it's still a TV show that needs ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the "supernatural" shows fake things once in a while.

The worst TAPS shows are the Halloween shows because they're live (usually a couple of hours or more) & full of "OMG WHAT'S THAT?!!" & lots of shaky cam & a WHOLE lotta nuthin' usually. So I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't something fabricated occasionally.

Most Haunted went off the air because of all the controversy over faking stuff. The most prominent of which was the whole Derek Acorah fiasco:

So, yeah, it happens. Not saying they all do it, but the incentive is certainly there.

These matters have been discussed endlessly since the paranormal shows started popping up.

All I have to say on the matter is, it's television.

Most haunted and that weirdo Zack Bagins seem the fakest to me. I hated most haunted because they filmed in such a way you could easily say they faked it.

As for GH ... i used to be a fan but they lost me after a few seasons. I really liked the fact that they never found anything and tried to help people who were only scaring themselves out of their homes... but they caved into SyFy and now they say ANYTHING is evidence of supernatural ... and never go into people's homes to help them any more.

Love the pranks on newbs on GHA, tho.

I class those type of shows as for entertainment purposes only. I believe in ghosts just not the ones you see on TAPS.

Funny how most the Ghost stories seem happen to TV/Movie stars (whos careeriers are lacking)and around midnight.Hummmm

I detest that show. I cant figure out how the bloody heck they keep getting to make more seasons. That show sucks so bad, if a guy broke into my house, put a gun to my head and said "watch a episode of Ghost Hunters or eat a piece of cat crap" I would eat the cat crap.

It was decent for about half of the first season, but every freaking episode is the same and they never find hard evidence of anything.

GH is a heck more believeable than Ghost Adventures or any of those other ones where the investigators are constantly seeing ghosts, demons, getting posessed, touched, etc. THAT is rediculous and brings absolutely no repectability to the field. It makes it more of a joke than what it is already considered. GH has done more in helping the paranormal field with their show than any of the other groups on television.

As far as every episode being the same, isnt that all of the shows? They go in, investigate, show findings. Done. Also, throughout their 8 year run, TAPS has found several pieces of evidence and has shown them to the clients and has also put them up on the TAPS site. What do you consider to be hard evidence? An actual sheet covered ghost? C'mon, this is real life.
