Did anyone catch the premier last night? If not, you can watch the full episode on Syfy's website: http://www.syfy.com/hauntedcollector/

Im undecided on this. Its set up almost identical to GH. I hope they dont keep this on right after Ghost Hunters if it gets picked up for a long term. Just too similar.

I watched it & am undecided too. Must admit that particular format for "ghost hunter" tv shows is wearing a bit thin for me. I'll stick with it for a couple more weeks to see what develops.

I should add for fairness' sake, I'm not a huge fan of John Zaffis nor his aunt/uncle (Lorraine & Ed Warren, RIP Ed), but I'll give Haunted Collector a go for a while.

I really should qualify my reaction to Haunted Collector- I did watch the DVR of it again last night & it's not bad at all. Maybe I'm just getting "the blahs" from so many ghost hunting shows on Syfy that have the same tired format. I've even taken (gods help me) to watching Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel- it's goofy as all hell but at least it offers up a different format for investigations. I should also clarify that I have no personal dislike going on for Zaffis or the Warrens- it's their "investigative" method of continually using the "touchy feely" stuff including mediums (Lorraine Warren actually is a trance medium, Ed was more of a demonologist) that ruins/cancels out for me the scientific aspects of any investigation they're doing or called into. I've a sneaking feeling that John Zaffis will be using mediums regularly (even Lorraine Warren) before too long on Haunted Collector investigations.

I'm just wondering what kind of energy the Zaffis paranormal museum must have, with all those random objects collected from 'haunted' places in order to rid the owners of negative energy.

It'd be a cool place to tour.

Minus all winky-eyed dolls, of course.

    Paging Laurie S. & Shadowbat:

If you saw last night's ep of Haunted Collector (I haven't yet- hoping to watch DVR of it later on today) what did you think? I read the tv info blurb- sounds like ep has some interesting possibilities...

I'm with you Laurie ---I'm wondering what a night in that place would be like. I can't imagine that all of the disturbances would quiet down just because they were removed from their original site.

I am sooo on the fence about this show.

I dont know. The "cast" just seems so stiff in front of the camera and I find that to be a distraction. Also, it looks like they are trying to "character build" each member. Scripting is very obvious. This, with the idea that all their haunting investigations rely on them soley on finding a "haunted item" just seems like the gimmick will wear thin. A couple of their connections just seemed to be too far a stretch.

GH and GHI still have a pretty solid following. I dont want to see Syfy saturate their own programming too much. It was bad enough they did GH Academy. Id prefer they stick with 4 months of GH and 4 months of GHI with a break in the middle during the summer. They can fill the void with reruns.

I watched the DVR- have to agree that this show may mark the tipping point, at least for me, on watching SyFy paranormal reality shows. Plus, once again the usage of what is becoming a tired format showing the investigation, with its snippets of conversations/quick cutting that's become too much for my taste. My daughter calls it "attention deficit editing." I have been an avid watcher of both GH & GHI from the start of their runs- do we really need more? How 'bout instead just make more of your excellent series programming, SyFy (Haven, Eureka, Warehouse 13, Caprica)?

So Zaffis takes the "haunted" item away to display in his paranormal museum each time? Heh, he'd have to take damn near all our furniture, most of the bric-a-brac & dishes, & about half the tools in the garage & shed if the criterion is previous ownership by someone now deceased! Oh, only the "haunted" objects that give off some kind of vibe? OK, then maybe just half of that half....

That's funny! Ours too, for that matter! I haven't seen the last episode yet...comes on at 7 p.m. here. That's a weird time for me to catch it, 'cause we're usually still having dinner, and I haven't found the repeat showing.

Seriously? They seriously produced a GH Academy?? Bit of a cornball topped with ham idea right there.

Hey Laurie S., thanks for responding! When you get a chance to watch that 2nd ep, please do post your opinions about it.

Hard not to agree on that evaluation. IMO, the one redeeming factor associated with GH Academy (I was so hoping SyFy'd call it something like Ghost Hunters- The Prep School Years but alas, not) is the addition of two promising new team members to GH & GHI, respectively- Adam Berry & Susan Slaughter. A couple of eager & open new investigators who seem well-versed in the scientific method of paranormal investigating can only be a good thing at this point in both shows' runs.
