Possibly even with a bit of science.
I have read that some believe a house might be haunted because a large piece of rock is beneath the house, it acts like a psychic energy storage battery, absorbing, then eventually releasing such energy that some people may be picking up on later.
About two nights ago on the BBC radio science show they were interveiwing a scientist who was not referring to ghostly things but rather was explaining how all particles are in two locations simultaneously quickly moving back and forth.
He built a small device to help see such a thing happening.
He constructed a micro chip with a thing strip of metal sticking out from it like a diving board.
This was encased in a clear (glass or plastic?) cube, where the "diving board" could be seen moving because of particle actions.
Then he told how conditions must be as such to be able to see this happen: No Wind, No Heat, No Light.
He just described the wine cellar (to a degree) beneath this house.
Never any wind. " Light" if I turn one on. "Heat"? It remains about 52 degrees , year-round, not much heat by our comfort standards.
Maybe these conditions as described by the atomic scientist make seeing those particles of spirit/energy that were once part of the formerly alive people here? Ghosts have the reputation for leaving those "cold Spots", don't they? (No "Heat")
This house was built on the edge of the dolomite cliff.
It's wine cellar was drilled and blasted from solid Dolomite rock probably between 1865-1870.
We would sometimes have a ghost-seeker event Oct. 31st.
October 31st is the strangest day/night of the entire year.
This is what my Brother and I discovered from a mere library book he happened to check out a few years ago.
The big book was all about building and adjusting your sun dial.
If you were to keep track of time simultaneously with a mechanical clock and a sun dial, these two would disagree with one another as to what time it was on Every day of the year, except for the 4 equinoxes.
As you go from one day to the next, one day time might be , say 3 minutes fast, the next day 3 minutes and 5 seconds slow, so it would go, until you get to October 31st. The 31st has something no other day of the entire year has... Halloween has a 16 minutes difference between those two time-keeping methods!
The spinning of this planet , flucations in gravity itself and time, just might have an influence upon the energy left behind by our forefathers, or at least influencing our ability to perceive it?
Many strangely coincidental things have happened here. Ghosts have been seen . heard.
Orbs seen with the naked eye-then photographed. There is a whole "laundry list of such things here over the years beginning as long ago as 1925.
