Got mine today.

When you get your board, mark which COM port the jumper is on (make sure its not set to a port already in use by a mouse or something), change the jumper to a free com port... I'd also suggest setting the jumper to 115K baud rate, you'll have to change your serial port to that too (Control Panel; System; Hardware tab, Device Manager; Ports; Com#; Port Settings, 115K..)

You have two options to power it:

1. use a wallawart to power the board AND the servos (default jumper), fine for 3 skulls or,
2. use a wallwart to power JUST the board and another WW to power the servos. Best for 4+ skulls. This one is two wallwarts connected to one board, but in two places. If you look thru the board manual, you'll see the terminals and jumper for seperate servo power..

It all depends if you want a dedicated power supply to run the skull by itself.. if you use the 3.7amp wallwart, one should be able to run abt 4 skulls(3 for sure) but not nessessarily all at the same time.. (meaning 16 servos all moving together)... figure 1 amp per skull... If you have a power supply(wallwart) with higher capacity, not to worry, higher current rating for the power supply means it CAN supply more current if it's needed.. think of it this way... you buy a brand new Mustang, but will only drive it to the gorcery store (no gas jokes please).. you have the extra power to spare, you'd only use it if you needed it. Myself, I'm using a computer power supply, but then I'm planning on abt 16+ skulls...

I really promise to make a tut for VSA.. and specifically how to set the defaults for your specific board, ports, speed, servos and servo limits(BIG IMPORTANCE).

You should write a book on building/making 3 axis skulls. Could make a buck or two on that.
